  • I totally get where you’re coming from. I lived 8yrs in Northern Ireland and didn’t cope well with the dark wet days

  • I’m the same. If there isn’t much sunlight, I put on my favourite music and dance around the house and it cheers me up.

  • Rug up and get outside any chance you get.

  • Winter is my favourite season! I love hot soups, using the slowcooker and coming home to a beautiful smelling house! Hot baths and heaters. Rugging up with scarves and boots! Add some colour to your outfits so you dont feel so doomy gloomy!

  • try finding a hobby with a friend is good too where you have something to focus on. weather it is joining a class at your local library or doing some art, sewing, reading at home with a friend.

  • Get snuggly! Movies, hot drinks and popcorn nights with the family. Soups, stews, comfort foods. Read a book snuggled on the couch.

  • take up doing crosswords or dong art, if you have kids bake and make play dough for a start. I grow up rolling pastry at the age of 4, dropped it a lot and got dirt off the floor my mum would still bake it and somtimes naughty me would make my dear dad eat it for me!!!
    my bird collection!

  • Still find time to do some form of exercise even if it means taking the umbrella on a walk

  • ive been getting up before the sun to see the sunrise..it may not be your thing but going outside seems to be the thing that gives you the bounce.. its hard, its giggly cold, brrr, smoking out the fogs, it makes me giggle. don’t ask why lol….im looking into joining up this trampoline place for air active 45mins jumping…I think it will be better than joining the gym which I am on, but haven’t been for the last 2 months..i have until aug 4th and I cant be stuffed, I’m losing money that way too by not attending… I read a good book, have a blanket on me with chai latte after my kids goes to bed…its quiet and lovely after having a sloth and a grumpy bamboon with me biting my head off! I’m also looking at doing some sewing classes too… write down what interest you, do some research and hopefully the blues goes away.

  • Find an indor hobby you enjoy… Do get out for some exercise… And keep warm.

  • Get outside when you can, even in the rain, it’s not always so bad. You might feel better that you did. Walking etc. can really help. If low spirits persists then I suppose GP might be able to help with advice.

  • The good thing of comedies is also that we laugh. And laughing is great against depression! :-)

  • Watch some comedies and family movies whilst snuggled up on couch with the kids, a hot chocolate and cookies. The kids will think back remembering comfort and you will get lots of cuddles to help with the blues.

  • A brisk walk in the mid morning & then a warm coffee makes you feel recharged. I love returning to a warm house that hubby keeps the fire burning 24/7.

  • Lively music and dancing inside may help with the blues and the kids will love it too.

  • exercise inside, or get outside with your brolley! cook a yummy roast, or light a real fire and toast mashmallows

  • I love Winter and make the most of the daylight hours. Getting out and getting exercise is invigorating and helps to release feel good endorphins. Hobbies and activities for indoors is good too.

  • I feel the same during winter. I have no energy and don’t have any motivation to do anything around the house. You are not alone.
I’m going to try Mom90758’s tip of taking some vitamin C and vitamin D.

  • Great tips here, I hope these help. I like to have the wood heater going. Just seeing the flames and feeling the warmth cheers me up

  • In winter I take more vitamin C and vitamin D. Vitamin D deficiency is particularly related to mood disorders and because there is less sun in winter, I think it’s a good idea to supplement it.
