  • I’m following some of these responses! I’ve got a 6 month old biter and she is making me cry at the thought of latching her on!

  • Hope this has been resolved for you.

  • Hope the advice below helped.

  • Maybe worth investing in some nipple shields.

  • What tips did you end up using? If any?

  • Hope you found out a way

  • Try changing positions when you feel him starting to bit or express

  • Position him correctly on the breast. He will soon learn that to feed better, he won’t use his teeth

  • I did a couple of things when my daughter bit me I would let out a loud yell of ouch and then tell her no and put her down, she would cry and after a couple of minutes I would pick her up and feed her again; it took a couple of repetitions before she worked out not to bite me as it meant the boob would be taken away.

  • A firm ‘no’, take him off and put him down. Wait a little bit then resume feeding. If he bites again repeat, he’ll soon learn that biting puts an end to feed time.

  • Hope you managed to get him to stop biting.

  • I stopped breast feed at this point.

Or try taking off as soon as it happens, then back on. It helps a bit.

  • That is really painful. I honestly dot kow the answer but hope someone does

  • ouch, just keep taking him off & sitting him up as a distraction then try again.?

  • You poor mummy I’m feeling your agony I had the same problem but try the lanolin cream helped me heaps and the nipple shields which I have not tried good luck :-)

  • Sometimes they don’t mean to bite its their first teeth and they don’t realize that they hurt you but use lanolin cream for your nipples and they also have good nipple shields from like big w or somewhere like that :P

  • I stopped and said ‘no.’ If baby is biting they obviously aren’t that hungry, so its fine to make them wait a few minutes after they do.

  • they have nipple balms and shields now for about 20 dollars hun

  • A tiny little squeeze that presses his face into your breast and blocks his nose for a second will show him that its not nice and will modify the behaviour. Not to rough just a gentle one :) My wee one did it to!!

  • Not sure if this is a tip but it relieves the pain, I used to call them Mexican hats as that’s what they looked like but they’re nipple shields or protectors with tiny holes. It made continuing feeding that bit more bearable, a lot actually, hope all goes well :)
