  • We kept it mostly by coins, not notes. Although once my son had a bad fall, split his chin and lost one of his teeth. We ended going to the hospital for stitches and that was a good reason to give a note

  • My daughterinlaw’s say $5 for the first tooth & $2 there after! I remember only giving silver coin for my kids!

  • Mine is always $1.

  • I’m guessing $1 per tooth?

  • Love the chocolate coin idea – so much easier than real money.

  • We gave $5 for the very first tooth as it was so special.
Then $2 for very front ones, now going to give $1 for the other baby teeth. Thinking $2 for molars whenever that is meant to happen!

  • My daughter gets a $2 coin per tooth. Preferably a super shiny one! For us, the tooth fairy doesn’t actually pay money, she trades for something pretty. So she’s more like a magpie!!
Sometimes there’s a little, cheap accessory, like a pretty hair clip as well.

  • I believe the tooth fairy only deals in gold, so it was a gold coin ($2) for his first tooth even though there were tales abounding of $5 & $10 rewards from others in the playground. Keep it simple !

  • I always a associates the tooth fairy with coins, so $1 or $2

  • Our tooth fairy brings chocolate coins- no inflation!

  • With our first child we gave $5 per tooth, Our second and third children got $10 per tooth which i think is quite a fair amount to give these days.

  • I have always gone with the times. Price go up on life so tooth fairy goes up.
My nephews got 5 dollars per tooth but the deal is all tooth fairy money was given to children to save for the future. So it needed to go in there bank accounts.
I am going to do the same with my son now but not sure if I’ll stay at 5 dollars or go to 10.

I think any amount is ok as long as they understand what they are getting.

  • My son thinks he will be getting chocolate coins from the tooth fairy. I’m hoping he isnt the first of his friends to lose a tooth, then I can base what he gets on what the other kids get. It won’t necessarily be the same but kids talk and the last thing anyone wants is to hear such and such got $5 and i only got $1. I got coins as a kids because that went in a glass of water better than a paper note would have. I also think my tooth fairy was a bit tight.

  • We do $5 a tooth. To be honest I wish we kept going with $2 a tooth but my husband changed it one time so felt like we had to keep it going :(

  • It used to be $1 gold coin but my kids now get$2. Working on the theory of you tell your child they get a special gold coin from the tooth fairy adds to the drama of the story rather then giving them a $5 note like I know some parents do

  • When I was a kid First tooth was a note ($5), the rest were gold coins then the last one was a note ($10) which was really cool

  • I think $2 per tooth is fair.

  • I think Bluey set the std price of $5

  • Gold coin. Usually $2 in our house.

A bit of advise…..this tooth fairy sets an alarm in her phone as soon as there is a reported tooth lose. Set it for say 10pm. Especially when teeth are lost in the morning it can be easy for US to forget. The kids always remember in the morning though!

  • My 7yr old has Down Syndrome and pulled herself a tooth out y’day. I didn’t put a coin undrer her pillow as most likely she would chuck it or stick it in her mouth. But next time I’m going to the shops with her I may give her some money and we can buy something together (which would be more about the learning experience, not so important how much that exactly would be).
