Hello!

My daughter has had her ears pierced for 4 months now however she has now got infected piercings. What’s the best way to treat this and stop it reoccurring?

  • Lots of good suggestions here.

  • Wash your hands before touching or cleaning your piercing.
Clean around the piercing with a saltwater rinse three times a day. …
Don’t use alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, or antibiotic ointments. …
    Don’t remove the piercing !
Do remember that the healing process for pierced ears is usually around 6 months, with most of it occurring in the first 6 weeks.
Go to the doctor when the infection doesn’t clear, she may need antibiotics

  • Try taking the piercing out and washing both the earing and her ear in a solution of teatree oil and warm water. Do this a couple of times a day if possible. It will sting quite a bit but is a natural antiseptic and antifungal treatment.

  • My daughter had recurrent infections in her piercing holes. I noticed certain metals set it off sometimes. Regular bathing in antiseptic wash, apply antiseptic cream. If it doesn’t clear, you may have to remove the earrings

  • Some ice or ointment from the chemist!

  • To stop it reoccurring bath in salt water every day.

  • Salt water is always good but if she is susceptible to infection she won’t be able to wear cheap earrings and not good to them in all the time….

  • get the disinfectant spray and use that and keep the area clean

  • I would get prescribed medication from your doctor in case infection gets worse. In the meantime a solution of water with some tea tree oil may help.

  • warm salty water, alcohol rub, or buy a sanitizing spray from a piercing specialist. See the chemist or doctor if you are worried about the infection, they can advise you.

  • My professional piecer, recommended salt washes ,eh salt & water ,day & nite ,cheer .

  • If it was me I’d go to the Chemist and see what they could recommend or even a Doctor, he might prescribe and antibiotic cream, in the meantime clean with some rubbing alcohol if you have it. I hope your daughter’s ear clears up quickly.

  • Alcohol spray. If she wants to keep the hole in then she’d have to leave the earring in while it heals but keep moving it around everyday to stop it getting stuck while the skin heals.

  • if they aren’t real silver maybe that what is giving her the infection, Rakija helps aswell

  • the spray from the chemist is really only alcohol based to dry out the hole, if you don’t like metho get an alcohol spray to dry out the infection

  • get some piercing spray from the chemist

  • You should of got some lotion from the place you got her ears done, if not just pop back to the same place and get some, soak the lotion on some cotton wool and hold over the ears.

  • I hadn’t worn earrings for years as I wasn’t able to at work.
Now that I am unemployed I put my studs & sleepres back in.
They were a bit weepy but I put it down to my body adjusting, after 4 days I woke to one bleeding everywhere. I had nothing available so was cleaning it with salt water when I spotted my hand sanitiser bottle. I dabbed a small amount on, used it again that night, the next day it was cleared up. I am not sure about using this on a baby that young, maybe check with a doctor or chemist first. But you could definately make up a salt solution and bathe the ears several times a day.

  • I would get some sleepers they are best and dab the ears with either vinegar or you can get the spray stuff from chemist.

  • bathe them in metho twice a day to dry it out and to prevent it happening again, make sure she wears good earrings and not cheap ones and cleans and dries around them after bathing
