Hello!

Hi everyone,
I have an 8 month old. We had an MCHN appointment today and she said that she has one crease that doesn’t match on the other side and that it’s rarely anything and because my baby is chunky, likely just a crease, but that they have to refer us to our GP to get it checked for hip dysplasia just in case.

At her newborn, 2 week, 4 week, 8 week & 4 month check there were absolutely no problems.

Has anyone had the happen and had positive outcomes??? I’m really stressed and anxious now!

  • No advice but to say I love chunky babies ????

  • I’ve never heard of creases being an issue. Learn something new every day

  • Hope this was okay for you!

  • Poor bubba, is everything okay?

  • Is there an update on bub yet.

  • Yep happened to my chunky girl too! She’s about to turn 3 and was absolutely nothing.

  • Hopefully it’s nothing but it’s good that they noticed and are checking it out. Try not to stress.

  • I also had this with my chunky bub, like the previous comment, we had an ultrasound and everything turned out to be be fine, now almost four and has no issues at all.

  • Yes my bub was very chunky as a baby (He’s 2yo now) and had uneven creased on his legs/bum.
We had a hip ultrasound and all was fine. It’s always better to get these things checked as they are much easier to fix when they are younger.

  • Asymmetrical buttock creases can sometimes suggest DDH but asymmetrical thigh creases are rarely a sign of DDH if the buttock creases are normal. Careful clinical examination of the hip remains the most important way to detect DDH

  • See a GP or paediatrician, and please take what she says with a grain of salt. I’ve had many maternal healthcare nurses with my 4 kids, some have been wonderful, but some have given some advice that I’ve double checked with doctors to put my mind at ease!
