Hello!

As a family we’ve decided we should start getting out a bit more in an effort to be healthy. I like the idea of fun runs or family events. Does anyone know of anything coming up in the next few months? We live in the Inner West of Sydney.

  • The Centennial Park always has heaps of fun family activities. Easy to subscribe to the website and get a newsletter emailed out with the activity schedule.

  • Bike rides, Swimming ,walks go to the park with them and take a ball

  • walk eat healthy and water

  • Dont know about any fun runs but they are usually an occasional thing and not really going to get you all fit as you need regular exercise. Try joining a sport that you can all do, you dont even have to join a sport you could simply go to a local tennis court or basketball court etc usually only $2 or so to get in, some places let you use their equipment if not buy your own and just play for fun.

  • cycling, a bush walk? walk around the river?

  • bike rides, walks, swimming, gardening

  • Maybe a little game of tag footy, laser tag?

  • bike rides with the family are always good and fun to do.

  • You can go the park and play footy and long walks on the beach.

  • Laser tag is fun and plenty of exercise

  • Why don’t you all go on a bike ride and take a packed lunch and have a nice picnic?

  • Why don’t you try some nice hiking spots nearby? Great day out for the family.

  • Roller skating is great fun, and good exercise, if you have a roller ring near by…
Try a family game of basketball at one of your local parks… A bike rides always a great way to get about, and fun too…

  • Penrith Regatta Centre is an excellent venue to get out with the kids for a walk or bike ride – nice wide path with no cars

  • As a way for our family to improve our health and fitness we are planning a family day every fortnight. A day to visit somewhere new or we haven’t been in a while in our city. It doesn’t have to be an expensive day out, just finding a new park that you haven’t been to or running along the beach together.

  • Weekend walks are a nice idea too – done regularly they’ll help your health, your training if you’re doing a fun run eventually, and they’re a chance to chat to the kids.

  • We go walking everyday. We have 2 full time kids and a son 2 nights a week. We walk everyday with the 2 smaller ones in a pram to the shop for basic necessities and one the weekends we walk to the park. Each week trying a different park. Today we walked to the park with salad sandwiches, sliced banana, apple slices and grapes on board then played and ran around then walked home. Not only is it great exercise it is a great bonding activity that doesn’t take the entire day and you can still get house chores done.

  • We find walking along the beach, botanical gardens and in national parks really gets us moving.

  • Walking, a good family stroll helps you get fit and gives you the opportunity to talk with no distractions.

  • Forget to add – the Wii we have is great too – the whole family play and you really get a workout with games like bowling and tennis. We don’t have a Wii fit but they are supposed to be great too, especially now Winter has hit and it’s harder to get time outside.
