Hello!

I have wedding rings and other rings on my fingers and being pregnant my fingers are starting to have more fluid and so they are getting quite tight and am worried I might not be able to remove them. Any ideas on how to remove rings?

  • The best way I found was tightly wrapping a piece of cotton around my finer just below the ring, it acts like a corset for your finger and allows you to slip it off

  • Soak your hands in ice cold water for a couple of minutes, then use dishwashing liquid to remove the rings.

  • Try to get them off ASAP as you may otherwise need to cut them off. I would try oil or soap.

  • I have heard this problem many times from other people . My solution which didn’t fail me when I was pregnant . Don’t wear any rings or bangles until after afterwards. Isnt that better than wondering how to take it out after and it maybe more painful for you . I find rings constrict bloodflow is technically it is not healthy for you at all .

  • i was going to suggest all these. i just use dishwashing liquid and that has worked but if not, then you might have to get it cut off if it a problem to you

  • Pregnancy causes fluid retention and puffiness, put your hand in cold water for a few minutes to reduce the swelling, then use an oil and relax your hand – if you hanvemyour finger too straight your ring will get stuck

  • Thank you for all the awesome answers, have managed to get one off, keep trying with the others!

  • In some professions you aren’t allowed to wear rings. I know one lady who because of that wore her rings on a dainty chain around her neck

  • soap all over to make it slippery, then slide it slowly and gently. Another tip you might like to try hand in cold water to relax blood flow that is why then try vaseline around the ring lavishly , hope it works as uncomfy it can be

  • Try some soap, oil or butter to help them slide off.

  • I have used hand cream before and that has worked.

  • Try applying some coconut oil around the ring and turn it!

  • My suggestion was going to be exactly the same as MoM Pumba. I’d cool my hands down first so that they are not swollen, and if the rings still don’t come off, then I’d try soap or dishwashing liquid. Hope you’re able to get the rings off.

  • I put a little hand soap on my fingers and remove them that way. But once the fingers get to big or if its a really hot day i dont wear my rings till my body settles down and stops swelling so much.

  • Watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DrDROoJAF4I – this is how they remove them in emergency departments, and it’s a great way to get stuff of kids’ fingers, also.

  • Put your fingers temporarily in a bowl of ice water, that should shrink them. Do a quick twist and pull of each ring.
Alternatively, use baby oil or liquid soap/dishwashing liquid. Coat your hands and the rings should slide right off. (Be sure to put the plug in the sink so you don’t lose any rings down the drain).
