Hello!

My baby is 6 months and won’t have day time naps longer than 30mins unless he is wrapped in a blanket or similar. I had weened him off his swaddle at 5 months but since starting daycare we have gone backwards and he won’t settle until wrapped. What age is too old for a baby to be wrapped?

  • I like the answers so far.

  • I started Rice swaddling my daughter when she was 2 month old, now at 15 weeks I am going to open up one side of the swaddle (it calls 50/50 from love to dream) will let her get used to have one arm free, after few days I will open the other side and let her other arm free. This way I will put her straight to a sleeping bag, just in time for winter.

  • I would try gradually wrapping him loosely. Maybe ask daycare how tightly they are wrapping him. Perhaps they can gradually loosen the wrap too. The ideal time might be as the weather starts to warm up provided the aircondtioning isn’t too cold.

  • I stopped wrapping my boy at about 5months, he was just getting to big.

  • i stopped wrapping at 6 months. but my babies were big

  • what did you decide to do?

  • I would have thought it was more size than age with wrapping.

  • Are you still having to wrap him?

  • What did you end up doing?

  • we stopped wrapping from 12 months

  • I hope you found the answer you were looking for.

  • I think it would be fine to keep wrapping him for a bit longer, he feels safer that way.

  • What did you decide on your baby being wrapped?

  • Usually when they can roll from back to belly

  • Hope you manage to find the answers you’re looking for. I think its important as a mother to just trust your instincts, and do what you feel is right for each individual child.

  • If he sleeps better wrapped….. Keep wrapping.

  • All babies are really different. If he likes being wrapped, I’d just wrap him. If that’s what it takes to make him comfortable and settled there’s no harm in wrapping him.

  • My daughter went backwards after starting day care.

  • So did I . I stopped wrapping at 6 months only because my daughter was to big and didn’t want to be wrapped any more.
