Hello!

It would be nice to encourage a healthy meal routine rather than rely on medication. I have been told diluted prune juice and apples help, but it’s still an issue.

  • Pears are great! and most kids love pears especially the tinned ones plus they can drink the juice as well ;) but we found trying to keep fluids up in general will help with constipation as well as often toddlers don’t drink enough…

  • I’ve heard that kiwi fruit can help with constipation.

  • I personally have found prunes and or prune juice works best. Not that great of a taste so you may have to hide them in something else to get them down

  • I found prunes work, and also looking into foods that might actually be binding , so as to minimise those. Lots of water helps too and plenty of fiber.

  • I agree with tummy massage (clockwise around the belly botton then down following the bowel). Adding fiber is good but make sure you add water too when you add fibers other wise it has an opposite effect. Tea with Senne leaf can help too
When my daughter was constipated she responded well on tomato and kiwi. I also soaked prunes, encourage to take both soaked prunes & soak liquid.
She always got more constipated when using white bread, white crackers, banana, beetroot

  • THe ones that cause diarrhoea. Juice. Also gives lots of tummy massages. If a baby then wiggle their legs in circles to get things moving. A more balanced diet.

  • Pears are also good for movement. Maybe stew some and have them on breakfast cereals or for dessert.

  • Fruit and fibre but also make sure they’re drinking a lot of water. I’ve been told constipation is very common with toddlers – they tend to be very busy and may forget to drink water.

  • definatly more fruit and give him more fibre to move it all along.

  • Wholemeal high fibre bread only, pears are also a good source of fibre.

  • thanks

  • Prunes are excellent indeed. You could try with dried ones. And give the kiwis a go. A lot of people relieve constipation eating one first thing in the morning.

  • Perhaps try to avoid foods that can block up like white bread or bananas. My friend had a similar problem with her 2 yr old and she has begun to give her son a scoop of beneful in his bottle each day and that seems to have helped.
