What gynecologial examinations should you expect when pregnant?

Hello!

I vaguely remember an gynecologial exam when pregnant.. I think it was optional and husband was allowed in the room etc. but what should you expect and why?

I didn’t get any at all until a stretch and sweep at a week overdue. Even in labour nobody examined me until I was begging them to when I needed to push.

There are lots of exams while pregnant. If you have a male gyno, they usually have a female assistant in the room with you. I don’t remember any vaginal exams while pregnant until I was in labour, I’m unsure tho, could just be a bad memory
