Hello!

Have a fairy floss machine now and I know you use sugar but what ingredients do you need to make fairy floss? Sugar… and what is the pink powder stuff you mix it with? Can you buy it separately?

  • I honestly thought it was just made from sugar

  • 800g sugar.
    240ml corn syrup.
    240ml water.
    ¼tsp salt.
1 tsp raspberry extract (or any flavor you like)
2 drops pink (or any color) food coloring (optional)
    You will also need:
    A ‘decapitated’ whisk

  • I didn’t know you could buy fairy floss machines. So much fun.

  • How great to have a fairy floss machine – would come in handy for the kid’s bday parties!

  • yeah did your friend remember the recipe?

  • Hope you have succeeded in getting instructions and in making fairy floss. Maybe the friend you purchased it from could give you a demonstration and write down her tips?

  • Googling the brand is not such a bad idea :)

  • It’s hard when you get appliances second hand and they haven’t got the instructions fir how to use or how to care for the item. I would try a cake decorating shop, they have lots of sweet stuff. I would also google the brand of floss maker for instructions etc I see you didn’t really want to, but it’s sometimes best to go to the source

  • Thank you Cherz, I bought from a friend that didn’t want theirs anymore… It didn’t come with any ingredients just the machine itself, the packaging wasn’t with it and I prefer to ask people from mouths of mums because its coming from “Real People” rather that “Online’ in a sense. Thanks for your 2 methods! :)

  • I remember you asking about making fairy floss on the 11th and many of us saying you can purchase fairy floss machines and it appears you have done just that.
I am now wondering where you purchased it from? if indeed it was purchased from a store new I would be certain it should contain instructions and what ingredients to use. If you purchased it from a garage sale, ebay or gumtree and it did not contain instructions I would google to see if you can get the manual, google will also tell you what to use and how.
    Method One: Hand-Spun Cotton Candy
    4 cups/800 grams sugar
    1 cup/40 ml corn syrup
    1 cup/40 m water
    1/4 tsp./1.5 g salt
    1 tsp/5 ml raspberry extract
    2 drops pink food coloring
    Method Two: Hand-Pulled Cotton Candy
    4 1/3 cups sugar
    2 cups water
    1 tsp. vinegar
    1/2 cup corn syrup
    1 drop food coloring (optional)
    Cornstarch

  • I thought you only needed sugar. Did you get an instruction book with the machine?

  • The machine should come with instructions and recipes – maybe google the manual?

  • I thought it was just sugar and food colouring – either pre-colour the sugar or put both colour and sugar in together. Check what type of sugar your machine requires (castor, regular white etc)
