I have heard that gel is best – acrylic damages your nails – but I don’t know how true that is.

I think any fake nails ultimately damage the original nails underneath. I’ll stick to my own, nothing fake about me.

Gel is so much better but it depends what is best for you!

well i think that you should find the benefits that fit you. one is super hard to break and grows out

I prefer to have gel nails rather the acrylic.

My oh my 2 completely different answers. I had a friend who lived in QLD and she was always trying to got me to get acrylic nails and I was not too keen on the idea. Next time I saw her she told me that the acrylic had damaged her nail beds very badly. So I am glad I did not take her advice!

Gel completely ruined my nails. It started peeing off and took my nail with it (no I didn’t peel them, apparently it happens quite often). I got shellac on my toes recently and it seems quite good but I haven’t had it removed yet so I can’t comment completely.

I prefer gel as it seems less harmful for my nails plus I love the look it gives.
