Hello!

Just wondering what magazines people read? I used to read Mother & Baby, Practical Pregnancy and Pregnancy & Birth constantly when I was pregnant and having my kids but now I read none. When I do read a magazine I usually find them very interesting but was wondering if there is 1 or 2 that you just love and read every issue? Thanks

  • I like some specialist craft magazines (eg Cross Stitch Crazy), and the Australian Women’s Weekly. I don’t read much else regularly.

  • To be honest I don’t read magazines. When I have time I rather read a good book :)

  • I love craft mags and home and garden as well

  • Thanks everyone for the replies. I think I’m like a few of you who have posted in that now I’m on sites such as this or groups on FB and don’t really need to read. I did buy Take 5 the other day and did some puzzles but still haven’t read it yet lol

  • That’s life and take 5 hoping to win something

  • I read The Australian Pagan Magazine (i am friends with the owners/publishers), and Better Homes & Gardens regularly!

  • that’s life/take that as I enjoy the puzzles

  • I love Home and Garden and occasionally Practical Parenting :-)

  • I tend not to read any magazines now, most information can be sourced here on MoM or the many other blogs that are around, there are a lot of news sites to read what is happening in the world and I do not end up with the clutter of magazines that I used to end up with, I tag recipes and back up anything I want to keep, I have got a snazzy filing system that probably I am the only one that can work out, but I find that this actually saves me money and time, and I do not feel I am missing anything, it was hard for the first couple of months because we are used to magazines. you will be surprised how much you will save, put the money aside that you would normally spend on magazines and treat yourself in a couple of months, you will be surprised.

  • i don’t have much time to read magazines but when i do it is practical parenting:-)

  • I’ve moved away from magazines to websites such as this one, kidspot, essential baby, and bub hub etc. They seem to just have a lot more content and many different points of view and ideas and tips. the fact that most have forums and real contributors too means you can hear from other parents and carers rather than just a point of few of an expert or a magazine writer.

  • I used to read lots too but now I think they’re a waste of money. Everything you need to know you can find online.

  • I love Women’s Weekly for the mix of stories and The AWW kitchen recipes. The Knowledge is also good, but full of fascinating facts but is a heavier read.

  • I’ve subscribed to Prevention magazine as I find so many healthy tips and ideas every mag. It now only comes out every two months. I also subscribe to Australian House and garden as I love looking at homes and getting decorating ideas. I sometimes buy recipe mags when the cover strikes me or when I need inspiration with my cooking.

  • I love cooking so always have a read of Recipes+ and Food Ideas, they are also budget friendly and I use them to get lots of ideas for cooking and our weekly meals so don’t feel to guilty about buying them.

  • I used to love TV Week as well but I don’t really watch many shows on normal TV now. I was an avid Home and Away and Neighbours fan but I had so many backed up to watch I had to delete them.

  • Tv week I love reading up in my favourite shows

  • Lately practical parenting is the only one I’ve read regularly. Occasionally I get some of the cooking magazines if they have some recipes of interest.

  • Thanks everyone! Prevention sounds interesting…might have to have a look at that.
I was actually reading an old Readers Digest the other day at my parents and found that good though it was many, many years old so not sure if they still have the same content now.
Might go to the library and have a look at them all first :)

  • I browse all the womens mags as my mum buys them. Maybe talk to friends about what they buy and share around
