Hello!

ok ladies, what would you do after a situation like this
I had a really bad flu at the end of july/early august. After recovering from the flu ,a few days later i felt sick, i was sleeping 13 hours every night and still feeling exhausted during the day, i was nauseous/dizzy ,couldn’t concentrate. And then i missed my period but had brown spotting at one point and spotting before my expected period date, (after 7 days it showed up )The doctor tested everything and an ultrasound finally revealed my uterus looked like i had an early miscarriage,The thing is my husband had a vasectomy two years ago and we’ve just learnt it’s fine,no viable moving sperm was seen.

I’m confused and sad.
So what would you do?
Leave it alone and move on or get a second opinion from another doctor as to what happened? we never did test for pregnancy at that time though.

  • Two things: definitely see another doctor, as if it was not a miscarriage it could be something thay needs to be treated. Secondly, get your husband another sperm test as very occasionally the vas can spontaneously heal.

  • This is a very sad situation, but if it were me I would move on unless you have any more health concerns, in which case I would see your doctor again.

  • I think you should get a second opinion if it’s going to put your mind at ease, stressing over the situation will only make you more exhausted and throw your system even more out of whack

  • I was given to understand that if you have a miscarriage at all you have a dilation and curette. Was that suggested at all? Being sick can send you body out of sequence a bit.

  • I would start with a second opinion, maybe even a third. Then work out where to go from there

  • I’m with the other girls, go for a second opinion. It will give you most likely more clarity in what happened and will help you giving it a place when it was an early miscarriage indeed. When you’re able to give that a place, your sadness most likely will fade away.

  • Definitely a second opinion is what you should go for. If not just for the ‘failed pregnancy/vasectomy’ just to rule out anything that could be wrong with you.

  • A second opinion is always a good idea and always helps to get clarity and to get answers.

  • I’d get another opinion just for peace of mind. Good luck with it all.

  • Maybe for your own peace of mind go get a second opinion. Check the vasectomy worked, but to also make sure your health is fine as well.

  • I would go for a second opinion, even a third one. Whatever it takes to put your mind at ease. If you don’t get all the answers now, you may never be able to move on

  • I’d go and get a second opinion whether it’d be a further ultrasound and blood tests. Your husband may need checks aswell to make sure his vasectomy was a complete success.

  • It sounds like you need peace of mind, so maybe you should get a second opinion. Can they tell whether the early miscarriage was recent or not? I don’t know much about this, but maybe it was actually some time in the past, and you were just late because you were sick.

  • If you are sure the vasectomy was a complete success, I would most likely move on.

  • How sure was the doctor about you suffering an early miscarriage? Could there have been another explanation for what happened, for the spotting..?
If you have the absolute certainty that the vasectomy was a success, I would leave it alone and move on. Otherwise.. I would probably try to investigate it further.
