Be careful. mint is a companion plant, it Is a herb that will smother other plants and should be planted in a container near other plants, it grows well with tomatoes, lettuce, kohlrabi, onions, beans. it helps keep bugs at bay but keep an eye on the mint as it can take over and smother your other plants, Herbs are great to use as companion plants, if you google companion planting for mint it will take you to links of different herbs you can plant with your vegies to keep chemicals to a minimum.

Also; plant it where it can be contained; I love pots for herbs; they look gorgeous too.

I grow Basil next to my mint and other herbs. Its great as it also keeps the mossies and other pests away

Not an answer but another question………….I am curious – what is vine spinach?

My advice is to keep your mint in a pot because it will take over your whole garden. It spreads so quickly!

Plant mint with a plant from same family eg, speriment mint or chocolate mint. Or basil
Don’t plant next to parsley

I just looked up my Warm Earth gardening magazine which said to plant mint next to cabbage plants. I’m sure this helps the cabbage, as mint needs no help at all other than to watch for leaf eating grubs and ensure it doesn’t invade your garden!

I agree with BELA’s comments; a companion planting guide is great for your garden; such a good reference to have on hand.

I suggest looking up ‘companion planting’. It will mean that you can plant the perfect edible plant next to your mint and they will help each other to thrive

I have strawberries next to mine and they are vigorous growers like mint so they work well together.

I heard that mint should be contained as well as over time it’ll pop up everywhere. It grows well with cabbage and tomatoes.

Anything – mint grows wild and anywhere! Best to plant it in a planter otherwise it will take over your garden!

Whatever likes a lot of water would be suitable, vine spinach would be a good companion, sweet potatoes also love water.
