Hello!

Hi, there might not be much to look for in a high chair but I feel like I should ask is there anything a high chair should have? What is a must to look out for? I need a free standing one that doesn’t take up too much space, which ones do you use?

  • A high chair should be sturdy, so a child does not topple over – especially when having a tantrum. They are usually bulky tor this reason. Most fold away, so you could place in another room when not in use.

  • Ikea high chairs are the bomb!
Only $15 or you can pretty much get one second hand on market place for free!

So easy to clean I just put mine in the shower give it a scrub down takes about 2mins

  • Easy to clean, foot rest is helpful but not a must, black straps are magic so they don’t look gross when dirty. Straps themselves are a must have. Decent trunk support is pretty important too. We have the $29 Target one and it’s amazing.

  • I would never use any high chair that doesn’t have a harness! Too many accidents have happened from not having your child restrained.

  • I go for one that has a removable Use being able to just wash it in the sink vs wiping down the mess has been amazing,

  • Safety – and it doesn’t have to be expensive to be safe. A good seat belt, and a tray that you can slide back far enough that baby can’t slip down too far. And easy clean!

  • Totally depends on what you want yourself. You already say that you would like free standing one that doesn’t take up too much space.
Personally I found it important that they’re easy to clean, that the child sits safely and secure, strong and durable, that it’s solid and not easily tips over, adjustable height and adjustable table and leg rest and besides practicality I also like it to look nice :)

  • A good solid chair that stands securely and must have a belt as the child can fidget and easily fall . We got ours as Target at the time when the children were small and lasted for my two children . It was one of the best purchases ever .

  • Get one that has a good solid base and will not tip over. You buy models that do not take up too much room , are easy to clean and can fold up. Good luck. No matter what always make sure the child is securely strapped in and cant fall out.

  • the ikea antelope is the best and its only $30

  • I would look for easy to clean. One that folds away out of the way. Adjustable height. On wheels that lock. And with straps to secure them in the seat

  • Most important things are comfort, height adjustment and table adjustments. Make sure the chair can tilt back so bubs can sleep after eating :-)

  • The ones from ikea for $30 are the best

  • ikea all the way, all my friends and I brought big expenisve chairs and they are now ruined!!

  • I bought a really nice comfortable one and found it a nightmare to clean. we then swapped to one from Ikea and it work perfectly, easy to wipe down or clean with hose/shower. We also ended up taking it in the shower so daughter could sit under the water.

  • Without doubt, IKEA Antilop. This is what the majority of restaurants and cafes use. This is because they are inexpensive, stackable and most importantly easy to clean.

  • Something that is EASY TO CLEAN. So no cracks or crevices. Easy to wash straps and backing.

  • High chairs that don’t have fabric and creases that are difficult to clean.

  • Ours is from Ikea and is amazing! So light and easy to pull don’t and put up when needed and is a breeze to clean. as a bonus it old cost $50 winner!

  • I got the steelcraft Messina high chair… It’s freestanding, adjusts height and tilt really easily, lots of padding for comfort and easy to clean. It’s also really stable and was a great price
