Hello!

“We are planning on going overseas and it will be a 20 – 23 hour flight. I got a very very active 3.5 years old and I am so worried. Any tips from mum out there on how to keep my daughter entertained and what I need to take on board for her? Thanks in Advance.”

  • Don’t let her sleep before the flight and home she will then sleep for most of it. Be prepared for lots of ‘looks’ from people when she plays up. People on planes seems to have low tolerance for kids

  • Take as many hand held games as possible. Books, colouring in books with pencils and textas. Sometimes the stewardess’ are nice and will take the kids off your hands for a little while, maybe to visit the pilot in the cockpit.

  • Lots of snacks, lots of games, movies, cartoons, favourite toy/blanket.

  • there are some good comments here

  • Did some of the suggestions help?

  • use the in flight entertainment, lots of books, colouring books and load the ipad with movies and things too

  • Hope all went well with your trip overseas.

  • How did your holiday end up going?

  • What did you decide to take?

  • Colouring in books with pencils, doodle sketcher etc

  • Great advice given already, but make sure she is physically as well as mentally comfortable.

  • Plan for the unexpected and always carry enough to get you through in the event that your luggage doesn’t arrive when you do.

  • Some great advice here too !!

  • Colouring in books are good.

  • lollipops and a leappad are great

  • Keep some lollypops in your bag, colouring books and pencils.

  • A laptop or something she can play on, watch movies and colour in and just be entertained

  • Colouring books, pencils, picture books, a favourite teddy or doll or blanket, food, drinks, lollies as she is too young for gum. A DVD player is a good idea although some airlines provide inflight entertainment although she my be too young. Maybe play eye spy, singalongs. A flight during night time would probably be easier than day time as she will sleep. Good luck

  • Lots of good tips Hope all went well and you had a carefree trip

  • there’s also a couple of great articles on MoM about flying/ travelling with kids :)
