Sometimes it works, sometimes not, kids are unpredictable

I always make my own reward chart, as different children have different area’s where they work on. I’ve a 9yr old in care who’s bedwetting and was in nappies when she came to me. I got her out of her nappies and she gets a sticker for every night she’s dry. She also has a problem to control her anger. In her case she gets a cross by her sticker when she looses control and attacks other people, 3 stickers is a reward. Her sister gets a sticker for every day she doesn’t have a tantrum or physical attacks people. I also have a girl in permanent care who has a Reactive Attachment Disorder, she steals and lies daily. She gets a sticker and a reward for every day she doesn’t steal or lie. The rewards need to be interesting enough. For my other 3 I don’t have a reward chart as such

Yes it works until they’ve earned their reward and then they’re not motivated to earn another one! I think I have lazy kids! haha.

yeah it is a good way to start teaching them what chores need doing etc

I tried rewards charts to get the kids to help out around the house more. I wrote up a list of things that needed doing and set a price fir each one, that’s what they got paid. The more items they did, the more money they got. It worked fir a little while, but they even grew bored of money :/

We used them a couple of times but then it kind of stopped, gotta start again and hopefully it will work this time round

We just drew up a chart on a big white board for our daughter (3yrs), included things like: (using manners, eating dinner, not wetting the bed at night, sleeping in bed all night, good behaviour etc). She loved putting the stickers on herself when she earnt them. Then once the whole row had been filled with stickers, she got a reward of her choosing. It might be a new toy, a picnic, trip to the zoo. We found it worked wonderfully for us!

It depends a little on the age if the child.
From age 18 months – 2 years Put their plates (plastic) etc. in the sink after meals, snacks.
School age:
Putting lunchbox out to be washed.
Dirty clothes put in the dirty clothes container.
Clothes that you have folded put away.
Set the table for meals.
Age 6 – 7,
Cook the toast for breakfast / put cereal in bowls.
Age 8:
Take their sheets and pillowcases off to be washed.
Re-make bed with parental assistance.

Reward charts are a wonderful tool!
Huggies I believe offer a free toilet training chart that come with some stickers that children just love.
We also make our own for keeping rooms clean, eating all their dinner & attendance at school. We keep a lucky dip box & at the end of the month if all stickers have been collected the child picks a lucky dip.
We’ve never had a problem & the kids love picking which stickers they get to put on their chart.
