Hello!

Nearly every day I give my kids sandwiches. They used to get a treat at least once a week from the school canteen. Unfortunately their school canteen is closed until further notice. They are getting sick of the same sandwiches everyday. What do you give your kids for their lunchtime meal?

  • Buy a food thermos – you can then send warm sausage rolls, left over pasta, soup… it’s almost endless. They only cost about $10 at Kmart.

  • Pull apart a roast chicken, and put some roasted vegies on the side (carrots, sweet potato)

  • A platter of healthy options such as dip and crackers or carrot sticks, meat sticks

  • I’m the same. I’m not wowed by making lunches. But I do try and make it a variety. Have you tried wraps with favourite filling and I tie a clean rubber band around it to hold it in place.
Even cutting sandwiches differently like in triangles. Do they like muffins or cupcakes? Make a batch Sunday night which could cover two/three days of the week.

  • I try and alternate with sandwiches, wraps and make mini quiche’s. My daughter is weird and likes me to toast her cheese sandwich and eats it cold (still don’t get it) the wraps in my house are winners (ham and salad) and today they have egg and lettuce sandwich. I also do grazing lunch of rolled up ham, cheese, carrot and celery sticks which they love.

  • I give my child a sandwich most days, I just change the fillings.

  • There’s lots of different sandwich fillings out there, maybe all you need to do is find some new ones. Or try bread rolls and wraps in place of sliced bread. Also, look at what you’re cooking for tea. If you think it’s lunchbox suitable, cook up some extra and use the leftovers.
