Forum When does the gag reflex subside in infants?

My 7mth old girl gags a lot when eating finger food and eats only small amounts of purées. She is very interested in finger foods but gags when pieces break off.

  • the gag reflex is very important as that is what will help stop them choking. maybe have a look at the size of the food or type you are giving

  • Usually when they start to eat solids regularly. It’s a good thing so don’t wish it away too soon

  • It should kick in soon. Don’t be surprised if it continues fir a while. Don’t stop the finger foods tho
