Hello!

“Had a question . I have a 10 week old baby . When I feed him I usually stop to burp him half way. But recently he starts to cry and wiggle and I can’t seem to burp him until I give him the rest of his feed . Is this normal?”

  • It’s pretty normal I think. Just go with what your baby needs which seems to be at the end of each full feed.

  • I didn’t try to burp mine til they finished their feed. Not sure if there’s such a thing as ‘normal’ with babies. Just go with the flow and take it as it comes

  • I would just wait until the end of the feed

  • All babies are different, some need burping during a feed, then others will drink the whole bottle before wanting to stop for a burp. I was self taught too ;-)

  • Great advise for first time mum :)

  • I wait until after the feed.

  • I use to stop mine half way. but my grandkids take the lot before a burp just let him drink it all then burp.

  • I think as bubs get older its ok to burp them after they have finished completely

  • It depends on how much air you baby is taking in. If they are breastfed they usually take in less air so bring at the end of the feed is probably enough. A bottle fed baby usually takes in more air so burping during and after a fed is usually best. If they are having trouble bring up their wind, infacol or gripe water are great.

  • I initially burped in during however as my babies got older they just burped at the ends of a feed instead.

  • I was always told after a feed.

  • Sometimes they need burping inbetween, sometimes they don’t. As long as he is burped at the end.

  • Yes that’s fine. He probably doesn’t feel satisfied & doesn’t want you to interrupt his feed just yet. The important thing is that he IS burping.

  • When ever you can, my first born didn’t need burping but with my twins they did and I did after every feed not in between

  • If he wants the rest give it to him I reckon as long as he is handling it. It’s not over flowing or coming back up once you burp him

  • I usually bump my lil straight after feeding him

  • Hehe I giggle because my daughter does this!! I would burp her half way but if I try to do that now I get an ear piercing scream! Lol so I just burp her after. She is 4 months old now and I stopped burping half way about a month ago. :)

  • Sounds like bub has a good appetite and doesn’t like the interruption to his feed. Burping him at the end of the feed would be the best thing in this case…

  • Also they will burp themselves and you will know baby no longer needs to be burped

  • With so many useful tips I hope things worked out well in the end
