We recently moved and have everything electric in this house, there’s no gas connection either.

We have gas for cooking & hot water. I’ve always preferred gas for cooking. I love gas heaters too as they give quickly a warm boost. Currently we heat with the aircon which is of course electric, works fine too.

it all depends on the appliance and your needs. gas is best for cooking it heats quick so no wasted energy. we have electric oil heaters as they have low energy use to heating output.
gas hot water is economical for smaller families but once you hit 3 plus people not so much. we have electric hot water but have a heat pump model (uber efficient)

We only have electricity

Gas is probably better for cooking but when you get used to electricity it’s fine too.

Gas is amazing for cooking and hot water! Depending on its use its quite cheap!

My parents have solar panels on their roof, they save heaps

We have gas hot water, gas cook top, gas ducted heating via the floor and electric oven. I wanted a gas oven when we were building the house but the builder said it could not be done. Anyway I don’t use the oven a lot. All the rest of the of the house relies on electricity. We have 8 humungus sized solar panels and that keeps the electricity bill down low. Each panel is the size of a huge fridge door! Amazing how they got them up on the roof!

Would love solar panels but not sure how long we are going to be in the house we are in, would love to move within the next 3-5 years

We found gas heating was a better option and cost less!

A combination of both works well as they are for different purposes. Gas is brilliant for cooking and hot water.

We have solar panels and the hot solar water system. That makes electricity much more affordable. We have a gas stove and a gas heater. All the rest is electric.

For hot water and cooking, I prefer gas, it’s instant heat and a fraction cheaper then electricity. For heating, I don’t like gas or electricity, we have a wood heater and it’s the best way to heat, and keep warm, a home

I love gas – for hot water, you don’t have a heated tank you are paying for, for cooking it heats up quickly and same for heating. For me, the price of gas would have to increase a lot before I would change.
