The reason you are advised to avoid deli meats during pregnancy is to avoid the possibility of contracting listeria. Listeria is very dangerous for unborn babies and pregnant mothers.
Deli meats have a higher risk of listeria. If I chose to eat deli meats while I was pregnant, I’d heat them up either in the microwave or as a toasted sandwich. If they are heated until they are steaming, it should lessen the risk of listeria.
