Hello!

“My 11-month-old son has suddenly started refusing his milk. I dropped down from 3 to 2 breastfeeds a few weeks ago and he was doing fine with formula from a sippy cup to replace that feed. I then dropped down to one BF and at first he was ok with the two cups of formula but a few days ago he decided he didn’t want to drink it any more. I have tried cows’ milk and two different formulas but he won’t have more than a few sips at most of any of them. Last night he didn’t even want his breastfeed. Any advice? Thanks in advance! Felicity”

  • Is there a temperature he prefers? Cold, warm?

  • I went through the same thing, water was the only thing!!!

  • Self weaning? Not really sure. How is he now?

  • It would depend on how much he is eating and drinking during the day, every child is different but if hes a big eater who drinks a lot of water then he may be not need much milk, still I would talk to your GP or child heath nurse to be sure

  • maybe he is weaning ?

  • How is he going with milk now?

  • how is he now? :)

  • How is he going now?

  • Maybe try one formula, one water and one bf

  • Start giving him lots of water

  • I hope its getting better for you now

  • Hope it is just a phase for you.

  • Opt for some goats milk

  • Hope he’s wanting milk now

  • Yeah I would gather it would usually just be a Phase. They do crazy things sometimes lol

  • Hopefully its just a faze that he’s going through

  • I have the same problem like you. If you find a solution, post here so I can try the same.

  • Dont worry, It could be one of a thousand different reasons. Teeth, sore tummy, hes getting enough calcuim from other sources. I suggest, you just continue to offer it and see if he changes his mind. Maybe he has decided it time for him to wean himself. Its completely normal. My son changes his mind all the time on what he likes and dislikes.

  • keep trying, you may find he is a little confused and perhaps likes the sippy cup.

  • He might have just decided that he doesn’t want any more milk. Just make sure that he is getting enough calcium from other sources.
