Hello!

My son is nearly 4 months and finally diagnosed with an intolerance, so after 12 weeks of him being in agony he is now on the neocate formula. Unfortunately due to him always being in pain he hasn’t learnt to self settle. He also has bad wind. He burps fine after feeds but it’s the other end he has trouble with- just very gassy. He arches his back and is in such pain, crys in his sleep, whimpers and the pain will often wake him. Is this wind still do you think or something else? It took me 12 weeks of begging doctors to listen to me before and I just don’t know if it’s just him, or wind or something more serious. The new formula has done wonders and thinking maybe when he starts solids it might help?

  • Glad it greatly improved on the neocate formula. I would expect the wind would reduce as well when he’s a bit longer on this formula. When not then I would ask for an referral for a pediatrician or gastro enterologist. In the meantime I would daily gently massage the tummy clockwise around the belly button

  • There’s a wind medicine u can get from doctor called rhubarb and soda but you need a prescription, apparently it’s amazing. I used infants friend which did the trick for my son. Good luck.

  • that’s amazing that it was hard for you to get listenened to

  • massage his tummy gently in a clockwise direction can help also lay front down over your knee and this can and does release gas. Poor you as it is awful to see our kids in pain. Hope this helps

  • Sounds like a lot of the symptom my little one had with reflux. After a few months of medication and obviously as she got older it resolved. Hope you found the answer

  • buy a gripe mixture and make sure he is pooing ok and that his tummy isn’t distended

  • glad to hear all is going well.

  • Great to hear he is doing great. I recently started my little one on inner health plus for kids and it is doing his tummy wonders! Might want to try that too.

  • Hi ladies. Just an update. Bub is now 7 1/2 months. Doing great. Still on the neonate formula and paediatrician says to stay on it till 12 months and then gradually introduce cows milk. He’s on solids now but I’m careful of what I give him and see how his tummy reacts. Doesn’t do well with green veges so we sticking to other veges and fruits at the moment. Just playing it all by ear. Thanks for all your comments x

  • I hope as time has gone by that he is better… but sounds like he has heartburn/reflux so for his formula add another scoop to thicken it more and this helps

  • 4 months is still so young..

  • there are some good comments here

  • how is he now, all going good?

  • Hopefully he settles for u. It’s tough when they don’t self settle

  • Some good advice there below.

  • Hopefully he has settled with his new formula, if not, ask for a referral to a pediatric specialist who specializes in
eating problems. Hope you yourself are coping okay.

  • So great to hear est1 – thank you for giving us the update

  • thats wonderful news, hopefully it continues to work for you.

  • How has he been? does he seem to be settling any better? let us know how he goes.:)

  • A referral to a pediatrician would be a good idea.My little one suffered for months until we realised she was allergic to the formula she was on. I wish you well.
