It’s called ‘fridgescaping’ and it’s the latest trend that will leave you scratching your head.

And no, it has nothing to do with decorating the exterior of your refrigerator with magnets and fancy lists.

This trend is all about creating an aesthetically pleasing fridge interior. Whether it actually defeats the practical purpose of a fridge is up for debate.

A quick scroll through the hashtag #fridgescaping TikTok or Instagram will quickly bring you up to date with this unique movement. It’s all about creating a beautiful (somewhat cluttered) display inside the fridge – using everything from fresh flowers to photo frames.

That’s right, just because it isn’t edible, doesn’t mean it’s out of place in the fridge, if you’re fridgescaping.

Earlier this year Lynzi Judish decided to try her hand at fridgescaping, and she’s since amassed a huge social media following. Initially she admitted the trend has a few setbacks.

“I’m unsure if this is sustainable, but I love it so much, so I’m going to give it a serious try! For the first time ever I can see all my produce, so I think this will lead to less waste and maybe also less shopping. “This would be literally impossible for anyone with kids unless you never allow them to touch your refrigerator.”

Since first trying the trend, Lynzi has since tried themed fridgescaping – everything from, enchanted forest and Bridgerton to Hobbit-inspired.

“When I tell you I’m constantly opening my refrigerator right now just to look at it, I am not exaggerating!” Lynzi said. “I’m plotting meals and pretty ways to romanticise meals. I’m on cloud 9 and heaven is Bridgerton, or rather Fridgerton.”

Like many trends based on aesthetics, fridgescaping isn’t exactly practical. Who wants to be moving a bunch of flowers out of the way when you’re trying to get to the butter?

But if it makes your soul sing … all power to you!

What do you think? Could you get into fridgescaping? Let us know in the comments below.

  • Oh gosh I just dont have time for something like this and nor do I have the fancy containers for art work like this in my fridge. You wouldnt want to try this with kids diving into the fridge either as im sure there would be breakages left and right

  • Firstly, how on earth does anyone have that much spare space in their fridge with which to put inedible items like vases? I am pushed for space as it is! Where I can fit something, it gets crammed in with little thought to how it’s placed. There are certain shelves that are only used for certain items, but that’s usually due to height or practicality. This trend is just ridiculous! I think some people need to find something better to do with their time!

  • This is a lovely looking fridge but honest who has time to decorate their fridge? I know i have no time to even stack my items nicely let alone make the fridge look pretty. Some people are eager and must have a lot of time on there hands to be able to do something like this.

  • What a mess! This is for people with too much time on their hands, money to spend and desperate to be at the forefront of the latest (stupid) craze. Not all artistic and creative new crazes are stupid but this one takes the cake. By the way, where is the cake? Can’t flipping well see it, now can we?

  • This is definitely not something that I would even contemplate.

  • I keep my fridge door shut for as long as possible and only open the door when I want something. That way I save on electricity bills too. This weird idea is not for me at all. I like to see where my food is and I want to see it easily.

  • The fridge door is always mostly shut, why would you want to work on an attractive interior?! Waste of time if you ask me

  • Oh my!! Who would have the time! I don’t even have the space in my fridge for this!
Definitely not my kind of thing.

  • Just use your fridges for their intended purpose. What is the world coming to.

  • Imagine going to a friends for a cup of tea, you’re talking about your family history and they say “I have a photo of my great grandfather in the war” and you ask to see it and they say .. “oh yes it’s in the fridge”
Weird. Impractical. Social media should be banned to those who participate.

  • I don’t really see the point of doing something that makes your fridge less useful.

  • I’ll pass on the floral arrangements and picture frames in my fridge. I prefer my food easily accessible and my fridge clean and functional.

  • It’s a no from me. Even if I didn’t have kids to mess things up I really can’t see the point.. ????????

  • What a waste of time and fridge space

  • I bet they have a second fridge in the garage for the ‘real food’s haha ….unless they live on takeout?

    • They might as well unplug the display fridge 😉

      • And why not break the door off too and simply use it as a dispay cupboard/case 😉

  • Kind of defeats the purpose of a functional space…

  • OMG! The world is going crazy. Where do you fit the real food around all that clutter.

  • Very practicxal lol ! I rather walk outside and look what’s on display in the garden

    • Opening the fridge all the time to look at the display would not be good for the energy either

  • Clearly some people have too much time on their hands.

    • Yes i agree, lucky for them. I personally don’t have the time to organise my fridge like this, everything just gets dumped in mine LOL

  • Very interesting way to use a fridge! Lol each to their own
