Parents watched on in horror as a doctor accidentally dropped their newborn twin girl head first just moments after she was born.

The child’s mother, Monique Rogers, announced the traumatic experience and shared a video of the incident to her Facebook page on Wednesday.

Footage shows the child falling from a doctor’s hands head first onto a hard bench at Chandler Regional Hospital in Arizona, on February 14.

“My daughter Morgan was dropped on her head due to the negligence of the staff,” Mrs Rogers wrote, claiming she was not informed of the incident by staff at the time.

“I was never notified she was dropped nor were there any tests done due to them dropping her. I would like to prevent this from happening to other children being born at this hospital.”

The twins, Morgan and Maddison, were already particularly vulnerable due to them being born prematurely.

“Morgan spent a total of 12 days in the neonatal intensive care unit due to her being 3lbs 4oz when born,” Mrs Rogers wrote.

She said a brain scan conducted five days after her birth revealed a grade one haemorrhage, but it was unclear if this was caused by being dropped or born premature.

“I did not find out that this test was done and the results of this test until this past Saturday when I brought up a different concern to her doctor.”

Her video has been shared nearly 60,000 times by horrified viewers and watched over 2 million times.

  • How disgusting of the doctor to not have even said anything. I’d be furious as the parent to even see this.

  • nothing like that has happened to me. just thinking of that little girl and what she went through. Hospitals need to own up to any mistakes they make and let the parents know, so extra care can be taken to look out for anything that may be wrong.

  • Surely they should be taking more care as health professionals, how awful!

  • Surely they knew the Mum was having twins. They should have had 2 cribs there ready, or called for another one as soon as they knew there was twins.

  • You’d worry for such a very long time about whether it had caused her harm.

  • They looked to be handling such a small baby very roughly.

  • I would have absolutely lost it. This is completely unacceptable from the doctors and assisting nurses. Of course the hospital will never takeresponsibility for what happened and they will try and blame it on the baby being premature. When I lost my son, he was a stillbirth, they advised me that these things just happen. I personally believe that he wasn’t meant to be for this world however the loss of of my son or was soon determined but it was under the negligent management of the hospital that I was under. I have been one of the last noted cases in which stillbirth had occurred back in 2015.

  • They should have been more careful. She was so tiny. Will they ever find out the cause of the haemorrhage? 🙁

  • Just awful! And to think if any damage has been done, it probably won’t show up for quite a while. I do hope their was an investigation done
