Hello!

When crisp autumn mornings make way for the biting cold blast of wintery days, it’s time to support your immune system so you can keep putting your best foot forward.

And there are some really simple lifestyle tweaks that can help support immunity as the temperature drops. Arming yourself and your family with these easy tips may mean a happy and healthy journey through the cooler months, so you’re ready to take on the world, no matter what the weather!

Let the sun shine in!

While the sun won’t always been shining during winter, when it does there are some really good reasons you should make like our furry friends and find a warm and cosy place to and soak it up!

It’s been well documented that sunlight helps our bodies produce vitamin D, which has benefits that include supporting the immune system.

Just remember there’s no need to spend hours in the sun, because our bodies can only absorb a limited amount of vitamin D, and we need to stay sun-safe, even in winter. We should also keep in mind that requirements to get adequate levels of vitamin D from the sun varies from individual to individual, and depends on your age, melanin levels and location.

Chill out

The term ‘worried sick’ couldn’t be more apt than when our bodies are trying to keep nasty bugs at bay. It’s easier said than done, but reducing stress in our lives really does have a hugely positive impact on our overall health.

Continued stress can affect our body’s internal defense and can give colds and flu a chance to creep up on us. In winter we often tend to hibernate which may mean we’re not doing the things that usually bring us stress relief. So make sure you still take that morning walk or go to yoga class – just remember to rug up!

Boost your vitamin C

One of the easiest ways to help support healthy immune function during winter (or at any time!) is by adding the right supplements to your daily routine.

Vitamin C is needed for a healthy immune system function, and having a low level of vitamin C could mean you’re more susceptible to picking up infections. And nobody has time for that!

So we know that we need vitamin C, but our bodies can’t make or store it. Vitamin C needs to be sourced through your diet, which means eating plenty of fruits and vegetables including citrus and green leafy veggies. But sometimes, no matter how hard we try to get those goodies into our family’s diet, we fall short. It’s understandable – kids don’t always want what’s best for them!

Cenovis Sugarless C 500mg is a convenient chewable tablet supplement that supports your immune system function. It also reduces the severity and duration of cold symptoms.

Cenovis Sugarless C 500mg is suitable for children from seven years of age. It supports the the family’s immunity this winter with a great-tasting, chewable tablet that’s a super easy way to boost your vitamin C intake.

Always read the label and follow the directions for use.

Get plenty of sleep

Getting enough shuteye is super important when it comes to keeping your immunity in peak condition over winter. Sleep helps support the immune system, while a lack of quality sleep may interfere with a your immune system functioning.

So if you’re keen to stay healthy and on top of your game this winter, make sleep a priority!

Tip top eating

It’s easy to slip into the habit of eating comfort foods over the colder month, but just choose carefully. Instead of going for foods that are laden with fat, salt or sugar go for nutrient dense and filling dishes like soups and casseroles. It’s a great way to pack in lots of vegetables.

It’s also really easy to slip out of the habit of including fruit in your diet over winter, but the minerals and vitamins in foods like bananas and mandarines can support your immune system.

Move it, move it

Don’t let the cold weather put you off staying active – your body, and your immune system, needs it!

Exercise can help improve your body’s immune response, reduce inflammation and lower the risk of you getting sick. You may just need to modify your exercise in line with the weather – hit a treadmill instead of walking in the rain or cold or try some indoor activities like dance classes.

  • I have been battling with a new health diagnosis but at the moment I am finding that a mix of probiotics, prebiotics and magnesium is helping me. I work with special needs children so there is a lot of drool and body fluids to deal with which tampers with my immune system at times.

  • We needed more information like this during Covid instead of just stay inside, don’t see family and friends, wear masks and be paralysed with fear! All of those things ruin our immune systems. I never saw any info advertised about boosting the immune system, instead it was all about promoting fear which just lowers our immune system further.

  • Trying… but there’s hardly any sun, it’s unusually damp and wet and grey so opening the windows is freezing. But taking Vitamin C, putting Eucalyptus oil in my diffuser, trying to sleep well and drinking lots of water.
