It’s been just a few weeks since the Royal Australian Mint released offical Bluey commemorative coins, and now the limited edition collectables are going for hugely inflated prices on eBay – with one seller asking for $100,000.

The Official Bluey Dollarbucks became available in June, via a ballot process, with thousands of Bluey fans disappointed at missing out on the unique collector’s items. And it didn’t take long for the coins to pop up on reselling pages, with an asking price in the hundreds of dollars.

Mouths of Mums members were furious at the huge price markup.

“These people are thieves,” commented one mum on the Mouths of Mums Facebook page.

“They don’t care that people genuinely entered the ballot to collect these, they’re out to make money.  My SIL and I both entered and lost, and whilst I wasn’t too disappointed for myself, I’m so disappointed for this behaviour taking away from others that did really want them. They shouldn’t have to pay hundreds for a $1 coin.”

“Didn’t get any – absolutely disgusting as I’m a genuine collector and spend a lot of money with the mint,” another mum said.

Resellers are still continuing to list the coins, now for thousands of dollars.

The three exclusive designs feature Bluey, The Heeler Family and The Grannies and were able to be purchased as individual coin cards or as a Coloured Three-Coin Collection.
