Sonia Kruger turns 51 in August, and she would really love to have another child. But will she?

At the age of 49, Sonia gave birth to her first child, daughter Maggie who recently turned one.

“It’s been such a joy for me,” she tells the June issue of The Australian Women’s Weekly. “I’m just so happy.”

Sonia tells The Australian Women’s Weekly motherhood has been difficult, but she would love to do it all again, even though she is, at 50, much older than the average mother.

“I would love to,” she says. “But I really feel like I shouldn’t push my luck!”

“It’s been all I expected and then some,” Sonia told NewsCorp Australia earlier this year. “I listened to people talking about it when I didn’t have children, about how amazing it is, and how it changes your life, but it’s still not until you have a baby that you realise how much fun they are.”

Sonia recently told Fitzy & Wippa that motherhood is “wildly stupendous”.

Given the story of the 70 year old mum who recently had her FIRST child, it seems any age is a good age these days. As long as YOU are committed and prepared for the changes of motherhood.

  • Wow, well done!
I honestly don’t know that my body would cope lol. I’m in my 30s and feel so run down, I don’t think I could do it at her age.

  • Good luck to Sonia whatever her decisions are on motherhood. It is not for us to judge.

  • I didn’t know she was 49 when she had her first child. That’s really amazing!

  • I wish her all the best. I know that if I were older and wanting children I would want to try everything to have them.

  • each to their own, the older you get great the risk for you and the baby.

  • I think she should try, cute bubba

  • She is not only taking a huge risk, she needs to think of her beautiful little girl she already has. She stated that there was complications last time. Personally I would think myself lucky that the complications weren’t worse and what the outcome could have been.

  • Wishing Sonia the best of luck.

  • I would worry about complications, but if a mother is prepared to take a chance then that’s her decision.

  • As long as she can look after the baby and provide everything that he or she needs then why not. Each to their own. I’m in my late 20s and find running after my kids exhausting but hey if she has the energy then go for it.

  • I have some reservations in general terms – about whether older parents will be around for long enough – but ultimately each person needs to assess this for themselves.

  • Maggie is gorgeous and good luck Sonia for the next little one!

  • I think the 70 year old being medically assisted to have a baby is so far removed from Sonia wanting another one. I wish her all the best if she does decide to try for baby number 2

  • Good on her if she takes it on again – I wouldn’t dream of it at that age, but I had all my children very early.

  • Good for Sonja if she does.
I am 42 and would love a second child
