Cleaning. BLAH! If your house is anything like mine, you’ll feel like you spend all day everyday cleaning and it still looks like WW3 has just happened (why oh why do people have to live here and use things?!?!).

The sheer volume of tasks is overwhelming and I feel like I have no plan, so I thought I’d use my smarts and find a good cleaning to do list to follow and keep things in check…

However, I stumbled over one particularly cleaning to-do list and almost choked. I started reading this list and laughing hysterically. I mean, does this guy do anything else with his life?

How Clean Is Too Clean?

Then I thought to myself, hang on, I am spending waaaayyyyy too much time cleaning everyday already, how much is too much, and how clean is too clean?

Many people have said this is going overboard, whilst others say that if you don’t complete all of these tasks you’d be living in filth… I feel like this guy is super organised and has it all written down making it seem a lot more than it actually is, which, back to my original point, is why I went searching for a list like this in the first place, so I could be organised and cut down on the actual amount of time I spend haphazardly cleaning….

Here is the list, we would love to know what you think!

  • No I think that’s pretty normal?

  • No I don’t think its a bit too much it just sounds like our routine

  • I do the same daily tasks, others we do when needed, offen doing a bit here and there it then doesn’t feel like a big task

  • I just clean when I can right now but I kind of like this list might have to try it out

  • Moping every day would be a bit much for us haha

  • It doesn’t look too overwhelming, but I think I would still struggle with sticking to it

  • Always make the bed before leaving the room, which leaves the room lovely and tidy. I wash as needed. Run the cordless vacuum around every few days. Shampoo carpets in September when the weather starts to warm. That’s about it for me, no set list. Just do the cleaning as needed.

  • Washing just on a Friday? Tell him he’s dreamin’!!! I do at LEAST one load a day, and that is without the bedsheets. It is such an endless chore.
I used to have a list. I actually enjoy having one. But I read once that it is much more motivating if you write a “I’ve done” list instead of a “To Do” list. I did it a couple of times. Much shorter than a to do list- but great if you want to see expectations vs reality.

    • I am just a naturally untidy person and I’m not particularly proud of that! Haha but I have tried to get my stuff together and looked at lists like this on pintrest many a time. That one didn’t actually seem too bad to me I just struggle sticking to lists I do it for first month then something comes up and I miss a day then another …
Other than rent inspections then my house is spotless!!!!

  • I do wish for a sparkling house. This list does help by making sure you don’t forget some of the more irregular tasks.

  • I really like that list. It breaks up the tasks each day.

  • I actually really like that cleaning list! I tend to avoid cleaning altogether so a simple list like that would be easy to follow

  • I think that’s a great list and it breaks the chores down so there’s only a little each day.

  • I think its great, I need to improve my Cleaning skills desperately

  • It seems a lot, but it is a good staggered reminder and checklist. Most people would do most of these without a list; though never thought of cleaning mouldings twice a year, nor some others.

  • No way ! No list here. I think in priorities, the most important things are done first, then less then least important things. I’ve a sign up in my kitchen “a clean kitchen is a sign of a wasted life” and so it is :)

  • No list here but it doesn’t seem excessive to me. Since working at home I find I’m cleaning more

  • I find all i am doing is cooking and cleaning. I do have lists for what day ill clean what. I think this list is great actually because it reminds us to clean those things that can easily go months & months without being cleaned without a prompt. I wishi could afford a cleaner though…imagine how much more time id have to live my life…
