Cleaning. BLAH! If your house is anything like mine, you’ll feel like you spend all day everyday cleaning and it still looks like WW3 has just happened (why oh why do people have to live here and use things?!?!).

The sheer volume of tasks is overwhelming and I feel like I have no plan, so I thought I’d use my smarts and find a good cleaning to do list to follow and keep things in check…

However, I stumbled over one particularly cleaning to-do list and almost choked. I started reading this list and laughing hysterically. I mean, does this guy do anything else with his life?

How Clean Is Too Clean?

Then I thought to myself, hang on, I am spending waaaayyyyy too much time cleaning everyday already, how much is too much, and how clean is too clean?

Many people have said this is going overboard, whilst others say that if you don’t complete all of these tasks you’d be living in filth… I feel like this guy is super organised and has it all written down making it seem a lot more than it actually is, which, back to my original point, is why I went searching for a list like this in the first place, so I could be organised and cut down on the actual amount of time I spend haphazardly cleaning….

Here is the list, we would love to know what you think!

  • I’m a more of a see how I feel type person! If I had a list of to do and I didn’t get thru it I’d feel unaccomplished! Also I read an article some time back that says u shouldn’t make your bed every day as exposure of the under sheet to air and sunlight prevents bed bugs etc. making ur bed every day provides a perfect breeding ground for those sorts of things.

  • I don’t have a to do list. I just try to do a bit each day. I couldn’t care less if beds don’t get made. And I try to do one big thing each week if I’m home by myself. I don’t think we live in filth.

  • Geez, I think a cleaning list would honestly just stress me out, I clean things when they look dirty.

  • No, I don’t have a cleaning to do list. Certain things I do daily, other things not as frequent. And when times are tough, cleaning is not on my priority list.

  • This is pretty reasonable – if you stuck to it, you’d probably spend less than an hour most days.

  • I am a big list writer. It feels good checking things off of them as you go through and do the chores! I do all the house work generally over 2 days and then do the bigger things when I feel like they need to be done. This list is a great guide though!

  • It’s good to have a list of things to do that you wouldn’t normally need to do every day / week.

  • Think we all do this list of chores, but having such a comprehensive list makes sure you don’t forget anything that’s for sure.

  • I clean the house every week on a specific day. For the extra job it would be handy to have such a chart indeed. Generally I try to remember to do certain things the first week of the month.

    • One of my Aunties had a similar routine as far as cleaning rooms was concerned. She did sweep the kitchen / dining every day and wash it once a week. Being close to the back door and no strip seal on the bottom of the door dry soil tended to blow in under it and the floor felt gritty to walk on in bare feet in warm / hot weather.
