Little boy finds an electric shaver at home, which soon led to a couple of botched buzzcuts for himself, and his two siblings.

Mum Stephanie shared the aftermath on Instagram, capturing little Teddy’s handiwork: a patchy close shave for him, and a huge bald patch behind his sister’s blonde pigtails.

“Do you like your haircut?” the mum asks little Eloise.

“No,” she replies.

When Stephanie prompts her daughter to explain why she let her brother shave her hair, Teddy interjects: “She said she wanted me to do that a lot.”

Rather than getting mad mum took the opportunity for a ‘teaching moment’, telling her children, “It’s just hair, and it’s going to grow back. It’s okay.”

Stephanie’s Instagram videos were shared on Twitter by a family member, who wrote, “Y’all, my nephew found the electric shaver and went wild.”

The post has since been retweeted more than 200,000 times and viewed over 7 millionw times.

OMG! She handled that much better than I would have. What would you do?

  • Hahahahaha that’s so funny. My daughter had a couple of goes at her hair with scissors and did enough damage with them. Thank goodness we didn’t have hair clippers!

  • Mum’s right, it’s just hair & will grow back. More important to take that as an opportunity to discuss and learn from.

  • My daughter got daddy’s when she was 2, she didn’t cut this much off but was definitely noticeable, as this mumma said it’s only hair, it’ll grow back

  • My daughter gave herself a mullet. Was quite even too. I was so shocked and the whole scissors rule etc is for paper! These things happen. It will grow back.

  • I would be very disappointed. I would trim their hair so it is an even length at the bottom. If they live in some parts of Australia it is going to get sold soon. They will need beanies to keep their heads warm. We lose a lot of body heat via our heads. If the little boy has started school they may ask for an explanation. Some have strict dress code – including hair. I child I know did his with scissors. He dot it so uneven they gave his hair a Number 2 and it has grown evenly in length. The little girl’s hair may not be as obvious if the longer part at the front will comb back over some of the bald patch.
