Married At First Sight couple Melissa Rawson and Bryce Ruthven are married (for real!), after exchanging vows last week. But it wasn’t without mishap!

One of the most controversial MAFS couples, Bryce and Melissa have proved the haters wrong, remaining together long after their season finished, and welcoming twins who were born 10 weeks early in 2021.

The couple married in Sorrento, Victoria, and shared some gorgeous snaps on social media.

They also shared a hilarious clip of their first dance, which left them both sprawled on the dance floor, with Bryce quipping, “We’re still happily married after this!”

The couple’s boys, Levi and Tate, were born on October 16, 2021, at just 29 weeks, and it was more than two months before the couple was able to take them home.

At the time, Bryce wrote, “Born on Saturday October 16, 2021, 10 weeks premature, our twins are in for a challenging few weeks in NICU and are already showing signs they’ve got a loving personality,” Bryce wrote at the time. “Melissa Rawson and I are proud and loving parents of these little fighters. We can’t wait to bring our boys home!”

The couple then kept fans updated, revealing they were able to bring the twins home more than two months after their birth.

It came not long after the couple was involved in an ugly altercation at a celebrity boxing fight in Melbourne with fellow MAFS star Sam Carraro. Bryce and Melissa told The Daily Mail that fans assumed ‘we just lifted the boys out of NICU then went out’.

Bryce explained the twins were staying with their grandparents while the couple had a well-deserved night out.

“I think every parent, whether they’re new to parenting, or they’ve been parenting for 20 or 30 years, every parent is going to have a night out and go and hang out with friends,” Bryce said.

“I guess one thing that’s always been told to us from family and friends is that you’ve got to also focus on your relationship with each other, and make sure that stays strong and basically that’s what we were doing.”

The pair constantly updated their followers on the twins’ since their birth, with Bryce saying, “NICU is such an emotional ride with good and bad days. These nurses not only do an incredible job of making sure your little ones receive the best care possible, they also make sure that as parents you’re looking after yourself too.”

While Melissa has shared several tearful stories detailing their rollercoaster ride since the boys were born last week, but says they are healthy.

In October 2021 the pair shared their shock at delivering their babies so early.

“So we didn’t really have the typical Saturday morning did we babe?” Bryce asked Melissa in their video baby reveal. “No, no, today we were planning to start establishing a nursery but here we are,” Melissa replies.

The couple recording the video at hospital, just a few hours before the twins were born. “The twin boys didn’t want to stay inside, they wanted to come out and meet us in the real world,” Bryce explained. “So I’m only 29 weeks, so they’re very, very early. Fingers crossed everything is good,” added Melissa.

“They’ve had to go into special care for a little bit, which is just the way it is when they come premature like our two boys are,” said Bryce. “But, look, we’re not 100 percent ready for them, we’ll be completely honest. Nothing set up, but we’ve got everything there to build. But the main thing is, Liss is healthy, the two boys are healthy and soon, we’re going to be mum and dad.”

The couple shared their pregnancy and engagement news in July 2021, with the twins due in December 2021. Then in August 2021 they excitedly held a gender reveal, sharing they were having two little boys.

The twins are believed to be a world-first for the Married At First Sight series franchise. However, they’re not the first MAFS babies, with Jules and Cam from season six having a baby boy.

  • Sounds like it’s working out for them and that’s great. A stressful time with bubs in NICU, but everyone is entitled to a night to keep their relationship string.

  • Congratulations to them and such wonderful news that the boys are finally home and thriving. I can’t believe they were verbally attacked for having a night out with friends. I’m sure they would have done the right thing and not been out too late.

  • Getting your babies home is always something to be celebrated, as well as the skills and dedication of NICU and SCBU staff.
New babies can be hard, twins even more so, (im a parent of twins) I hope you are able to enjoy the ride in the crazy journey ahead. A great cause for celebration, but a perhaps a few less public/instagram posts in the immediate future – lots of people wishing you well, but good to have some privacy too in the early months!
