  • We’ve always done best part & worst part of the day which is great for getting the frustrations out and as my kids turn into teens I’m fnding the habit of it is keeping communication going. A bit of toilet humour with my son always works & art with my daughter….no limits fun!

  • Our magic time was at the family table. Every evening one of my 4 kids could bring up a subject or ask a question and we would all debate it. Sometimes it was about maths, about growing up, about puberty, about menstruation – anything. It certainly made both the boys and girls realise there was more than just a difference in their bodies to cope with and it seemed to keep our house calm. It was sometimes difficult when a friend was there for a sleepover until one of my kids said they had been asked a difficult question by their friend and thought I was the best person to answer it. Our round table got quite involved at times, but it was a magic time for all the family and we all benefited.

  • I try to incorporate some fun times while my kids are watching me do my chores as it were – sometimes we have fun singing and dancing while putting away the dishes lol! but I do understand exactly about making more magical memories for my kids rather than a magically clean house – something to work on :)

  • At the moment special time with my 10 month involves connecting with him intentionally throughout the day. Such as throwing him in the a few times or cuddles before nap time. I’m loving these challenges just as a reminder to be intentional about enjoying parenting. It’s easy to be too overwhelmed by the business of it all. Thanks Debbie :)

  • Thanks for the reminder! We so often think it has to be a “block” of time and never seem to be able to lock it in, but those magic minutes all make a difference!
