I doubt many people are of the extreme precautions patients undergoing chemotherapy have to do even when going to the oncology dept in hospital for treatment. They cannot wash their hands at hand basins. The have to use their own hand sanitiser. They need to wear gloves when going in and out of doors in public places. They have to keep their houses, cars etc spotlessly clean and other family members take precautions so they don’t transmit germs as much as they can. Patients often wear face masks when out in public. Many have certain foods they can’t eat that make them very ill during chemo. I know one guy who could eat anything with the tiniest amount of tomato in it or had cross contamination with tomato. There was a couple of other foods but tomato was the worst. During that time he didn’t eat out at all, not even at the houses of people he knew. People weren’t aware of the cross-contamination problem consequenses.. A couple of times his chemo had to be delayed because the oncologist decided he was too ill to have it for at least another week.

Awful for these families and awful we have come so close to eradicating certain diseases and now it seems we are going backwards.

Poor little one. I am a believer in vaccinating and hope some diseases can be wiped as a result. My heart goes out to this family.

I totally agree with this post. I really feel for kids whom don’t have basic right to a full immunity, its not their fault, yet they suffer the most.

I like that our Government is using every incentive it can (ie money) to encourage vaccination.

Musicmum for some reason I cannot reply to your comment, so I’ll reply here. Maybe it’s you who needs to do more research as it’s the anti vaxxers who are ill informed. The risks from a vaccination are minimal for majority of the population. Measles may be spread by vaccinated people as well as unvaccinated people. But the ones who will suffer from coming into contact with the virus are the unvaccinated. I’m in my 50s and I was vaccinated against diseases, measles being one. So you must be really old if you lived in a time when natural immunity and no vaccines was a thing. Have you looked at how many people have died from diseases that now have vaccines for? I remember a time when catching measles was a death sentence. There are far more benefits from vaccinations then possible bad outcomes. I really hope people like you don’t end up in the majority because we need vaccines

This is so sad, and one of the reasons we vaccinate. Not only to protect our boys, but for those that cannot vaccinate for whatever reasons.

Yes I vaccinate my children because I want to be protect against flus and diseases.
I dont understand why parents choose not too.
And to have your child place into a preschool or school your child needs to vaccinated.
Hope the girl fights her cancer. To be sicker with cancer and to put other cancer patients at risk is a huge reason why parents should be force to get their child vaccinated.

This is why I vaccinate, it’s why we all should. I hope her daughter wins her cancer battle.

Vaccination is the administration of antigenic material (a vaccine) to stimulate an individual’s immune system to develop adaptive immunity to a pathogen.
On the moment you’re vaccinated, you’re infected with a sickness so your body can make anti-bodies / immunity against it.
A child with cancer and receiving chemo, doesn’t have that immunity and is more prone to catch that illness; that can be from those who’re just vaccinated (infected with a mild form of this sickness, so they themselves can build up immunity).

So sad poor girl! Some people do not think about anyone else except themselves!!

Oh my goodness my heart just hurts for this mother and family. That poor child I hope with all my heart that lots of hugs and love can help to ease the pain xox people do the right thing it takes 2 mins to immunise but makes such a difference to your family to your community and to total strangers. You may never know the impact or the damage you are doing to other families by not immunising your children.

Measles are spread by those who are vaccinated. We all grew up with measles as being a norm and everyone recovered because we built up natural immunity, now the natural immunity is compromised. Do your research folks instead of reading the same old lies.

  You are so wrong. There was never a time when it was natural to have measles. Before vaccines, measles was a death sentence. There is no natural immunity for it. Maybe it’s you who needs to do more research because if you believe vaccines are unecessary, then you have the wrong information
