Mum Horrified to Discover "Sex Room" on Popular Kids App

Mum disgusted when she realised her six-year-old daughter was playing in a graphic ‘sex room’ on popular kids game.

Peggy told Kidspot she was watching her six-year-old daughter play computer game Roblox when a ‘friend’ invited her into a private room in the online world.

She quickly realised that the apparent friend was a stranger, and her daughter’s character in the virtual world had been taken into a totally inappropriate space.

‘Luckily, I was sitting next to her and noticed out of the corner of my eyes that one of the characters and breasts so it made me look closer,’ Peggy told the publication.

Peggy took the game away from her daughter and recorded the sexual acts to inform other parents.

‘She had absolutely no idea what she was looking at, but I would hate to think about what would have been said to her.’

Peggy reported the room and it was immediately removed.

A quick youtube search and it seems it is actually pretty common.

Roblox is an online gaming platform where users are able to create their own games.

The app does have safeguards which include parental controls to allow parents to shut-off chat capability, age “visibility” so that parents could easily determine that the settings for their kids are age appropriate, and more stringent chat controls for under-13s restricting a greater range of words.

Very scary, but in all seriousness why are the makers of these games even making the creation of rooms like this a possibility? They should know how dangerous that could be with sexual predators around.

This is frightening and another reaspon by parents need to be responsible and vigilant. I have so many friends/parents who trust that the apps and games their kids are playing are all safe. This is just another example that they’re not.

I FIND THAT A SEX ROOM IN TOYS FOR CHILDRE AGE 6 IS TOTALLY WRONG. WE ARE STOPPING OUR CHILDREN HAVING A CHILDHOOD! I’m like a hawk with my daughters tablet and she has to come and ask me before she uses it and if she is aloud a app and then I put in password which has no idea I also say I haven’t charged it so she can’t use it or I hide it and say I left it at work

Our Punks are too small for these games as yet, but they had YouTube Kids for all of 3 days before the inappropriate clips started showing up. We monitor their iPad usage (I’m a horrible Mum, they’d be lucky to get their iPads once a fortnight!) and the app was deleted soon after.

I am just wondering why a six year old is using apps in the first place. Oh what ever happened to playing out side or creative play with craft and toys.

  I tend to agree – running around outside and playing is a good way to expel energy and develop gross motor skills. Games/apps are for when they are older and able to understand and engage in age appropriate games/apps and have been educated around the use of games/apps.
