A photo posted on the Kmart Unhacks & Roasts Facebook page has attracted attention for a very strange reason.

One mum sent in a photo of her nice tidy pantry. Good job, mum!

The caption on the photo reads, “No one’s allowed to f#ck with Brenda’s #pantrygoals. She even has a sign up to reinforce her stand on the situation.”

The notice on the door has some people saying child protection authorities should be alerted.

The list of “Pantry Rules” the mum has stuck to the door threatens her children with violence if they make a mess of her beautifully clean shelves.

“I spent two days organizing this pantry, if you mess it up I WILL CUT YOU, with much love Mum,” it reads.

The post has attracted over 1000 comments.

Most saw it as a bit of light-hearted fun, but others took it a face value.

“Pretty sure this type of threat warrants opening a case with child protection,” one person commented.

– “I’d never put a sign up like for my children to read. I don’t get why people think it’s funny”, wrote another.

– “Unpopular opinion, I hate the signs whenever they’re used. But the pantry is goals.”

– Another shared, “Brenda- your family is going to starve! No one wants to have to move 4 baskets of fruit to get to the good snacks at the back. Fail. Sharpen your knife Brenda, you’re gonna need it!”

– “This is stupid. The wines on the top shelf. Piss off those pineapples and get that wine down lower.”

– “Does anyone else just wanna fuck stuff up in there and wait for the shit to go down ?”

While many actually questioned, where is the food?

To be honest that would do my head in having to pull out a basket to grab out what I needed all the time. Each to their own though!

  • Awesome looking pantry but agree that violence is never funny even if you only mean it as a joke. There are so many domestic violence cases out there that this would definitely be triggering.

  • Love the pantry minus the pineapples and signs.

  • What happened to the Aussie sense of humour?! Gawd, she’s not serious about cutting her kids

  • I would love to see this pantry now. If she has kids, I can guarantee it wouldn’t have looked like this for long

  • Very neat and tidy. Don’t go much on the sign though. Looks a bit to tidy can’t see much food at all.

  • I DON’T LIKE THE PHRASE SHE HAS ON THE DOOR OF THE PANTRY, BUT IT’S HERS, NOT MINE.
NOTHING WRONG WITH AN ORGANISED PANTRY. MINE CERTAINLY LOOKS MORE MESSY

  • I think it is fine for her to show off her “Neat” Pantry and I’d be proud too but you got kids, Come on, it’s gonna get messed up. They won’t take the item out and then replace it back where it was. Dream on lol but yeah no need for the trolls to come out and play either.

  • A super tidy looking pantry – I prefer to have things on hand.

  • People can be so unkind. Put a photo of your own pantry up and see how it feels if you feel hers is not right

  • This isn’t a pantry. Seriously there is no food in it

  • It’s her pantry, she can write what she wants on the sign? Why it matters to anyone else is beyond me!

  • The pantry looks great, no need for the sign. The sign is done in jest though

  • Whether the “joke” is funny depends a bit on the age of her kids.

    • Quite right – jokes do depend on the age of the target audience.

  • Sorry who cares what her rules are. I can imagine the complaining that lead to it

  • I hope her kids didn’t take her joke seriously because my son does not see it as a joke even though he’s 12.
Cupboard awesome but sign writing needs to change.

  • She could maybe have written her threat in a more light hearted way?

  • A very organised mum l must say!!!

  • Oh my goodness, after I clean out our pantry, writhing a few days it’s messed up again! Lol usually it’s me mind you!

  • I absolutely don’t like those pantry rules. It reminds me of something posted here in Mouths of Mums during some holiday, maybe Christmas. A woman that cleaned the living area and nobody was allowed in there till the day of the celebrations. Absolutely unnecessary in my idea.
I agree that there isn’t much food in that pantry. :-) But I like the idea. Everything clearly categorized and easy accessible.

  • The wine is out of reach of the children provided they don’t climb up the shelves like I’ve seen some kids do (thankfully not mine). At least the fruit is easy to get. I wonder what is in the pineapple shaped container. Sugar?
