Mum shares clever toothpaste hack to stop kids trashing the bathroom every time they brush their teeth.

Mum Alicia, shared a video in the Kmart Hacks & Decor Facebook group, on how she filled a Kmart soap dispenser with toothpaste – making it easier for the kids to get toothpaste on their actual brush. Winning!

She writes: ‘Sick of wasting toothpaste and the kid making a mess….. problem solved.’

Added another: ‘Omg this is the best idea!!!’

  • What a great idea, I never considered something like this. We have toothpaste going everywhere. I love this idea. So neat and tidy with so mess.

  • Brilliant idea especially if there are several children.

  • Exactly, why didn’t someone think of this sooner? Although there are the pump toothpaste dissenters with the tubes of toothpaste on the supermarket shelves, but a lot gets left in the bottom of those too.

  • I see how it won’t be on the tooth paste tube but I don’t think it will stop the kids from squirting it on the benches. I also feel like filling this up would be so time consuming. Not for me but I can see how it might help others.

  • You need to be able to buy toothpaste that you can pour into the new type of container. You can get gadgets that you use at the base of the toothpaste tube that you adjust to move the toothpaste from the bottom of the tube up towards the opening and not need to squeeze the middle of the tube and waste so much. It isn’t always solid toothpaste that needs to be cleaned up in the bathroom. Sometimes it is liquidy from in your mouth.

  • I want this for my toothpaste! I wonder if it would dry out and get stuck in the pump?! I suppose not if you’re brushing regularly.

  • What a great idea. When do kids every grow out of strangling the toothpaste tube but leaving a mess everywhere. My 18 year old still does it !!!

  • Colgate already has a pump dispenser. It’s been around for decades

    • I remember the pump dispenser now that you mention it! However, you still have to hold the tube with one hand and press the pump with the other while lining it up with your toothpaste. I struggled with this as a child. I think the soap dispenser idea is much better.

  • I’m tempted to think this would waste more toothpaste and still create as much mess ….. but, oh for a solution to the problem, it would be a godsend!!

  • Not for me it just moves the problem from the tube to the pump. Teaching the kids to clean up after themselves is much easier

  • I like the idea and concept and am certainly sick of my kids making a mess with toothpaste, however wouldn’t there be quite a lot of wastage with what is left in the container that the pump doesn’t suck up.
