This Mum has a list of requirements for potential babysitters that takes things to a whole new level!

Finding the perfect babysitter is a challenge. Can you trust them? Do they get along with your kids? Are they responsible? We all have a pretty good idea of what we’re looking for, but one mum has taken things to the next level, posting her list of babysitter requirements anonymously online, kidspot.com.au reports.

Impossible Demands

While the mum’s list of criteria for her ideal babysitter included some reasonable requests, such as having experience and possibly a childcare qualification, there were also some downright ridiculous attributes suitable candidates were required to have.

With such high expectations, and three children to look after, you’d expect a high hourly rate to match, but the demanding mum said she would only be prepared to pay ‘$10 an hour under the table cash,’ apparently equivalent to $15 an hour if you had to pay tax. Talk about stingy. If you want Mary Poppins, you better be prepared to cough up the big bucks!

Gone Too Far

The post has been met with widespread criticism, with many people quick to label the list as delusional. “Would be worried about someone who had the degree/experience but was still willing to graft for $10 an hour,” one Reddit user posted. “For $10/hr I will come over and watch your tv and eat your snacks. Expect to return alive children…that’s about it,” another said. One woman also expressed disbelief at the qualifications required. “I’d love to take the job, but my experience as a paediatric ICU nurse just won’t cut it I guess,”she said.

We think the whole thing is totally ridiculous. If you’re lucky enough to find yourself a genuinely kind, mature and punctual babysitter who your kids like, that’s good enough for us. No qualification can give you that.

  • Wish her luck!
I was just happy to have a responsible person to look after my children on the few occasions I needed to go out.

  • LOL I couldn’t help but laugh as the list kept going she is delusional!

  • Good luck finding someone to fit that criteria. No problems with the law yet they are willing to pay under the table?

  • whoa, that’s a bit much

  • $10 or a list like that? I can work at maccas, be less qualified and earn double?? I’m cautious too about who I’ll let look after my child but damn woman!!

  • This has got to be a tongue in cheek offer surely.

  • Did she find anyone? lol… that sure is a big requirement list.

  • If she expects the Nanny to take the children to school and home again she should provide a car or at least pay for the fuel etc. I know a lady was paid $10.00 AUS a hour about 50years ago (she is now 68 y.o.) It was sometimes short notice but it was almost next door to her. Her snacks were provided.

  • It has to be a joke surely no one is that over the top

  • She has gone out of control.

  • I think that it’s hilarious that she goes on about how the babysitter must be “above board” with tons of qualifications and have no problems with the law (not even a parking ticket) and then wants to pay them illegally.

  • I never had to hire a babysitter as such. We were fortunate to have family and friends available. But I imagine sensible, responsible with a degree of common sense would be top of the list.

  • Oh my goodness! That lady insane! yes, we all want someone reliable and trustworthy to look after our kids, but talk about overkill! There is NO way she will find anyone who fits that criteria who is willing to work for $10 a hour!

    Reply

  • woooh… that is an extensive list. …9 years of experience :D :D

  • Wow. With that list of requirements, she’d be battling to find someone suitable who would work for such a small amount. If she wants them to be “perfect” she should pay accordingly. I wonder if she found someone?

    Reply

  • Just empathy and honesty.

    Reply

  • Willing to pay for their own snacks? Or snacks for the kids?

    Reply

  • DOubt she will have success with this list. We go with family and friends

  • This is a crazy list of babysitter requirements indeed. Success with that !
