New Big W Boucle Chair Sets Hearts Racing

In the latest round of the affordable chic home decor battle, Big W has released a boucle-inspired occasional chair that’s flying out of stores.

First it was Kmart coming through with the goods, releasing a boucle chair and ottoman for a fraction of the designer price. Now Big W is jumping on the trend bandwagon. But don’t sleep on this – it’s only just come back into stock after being snapped up by savvy shoppers in the first few days of its release.

After popping up on social media over the past few days, the Home Trading Co Milan Teddy Occasional Chair ($109) has managed to spark a cult following – with shoppers across the world (yes, the world!) desperate to get their hands on one.

Bronte Czauderna shared a TikTok video of the ‘affordable desk chair’, which attracted hundreds of comments. Many were from international followers keen to get their hands on the stylish seat.

“Ok I need a UK version ladies,” wrote one follower.

“Why do other countries have the best decor,” added another.

“Can we find a dupe for a US version?”

The jury is out on the comfort factor of this chair, but if you don’t want to use it as a desk chair, it makes a beautiful accent chair for a cosy corner.

This looks nice but I’m not sure how comfortable I’d find it sitting in it all the time. I can get quite particular on the types of seats I spend lots of time in as I’ve got a dodgy back.

I don’t think they’ll last very long or wear well. Better to spend on a better quality chair that will last.

Sorry, but I think it’s ugly! Probably the result of being middle-aged but I look at white and think ‘that’ll be grubby in six months and will never look as good’.
I’m happy that this is one ‘must have’ that has no appeal. Also….$100?!! Shut the front door!
