It’s no secret that for a garden to flourish, it needs great soil. But how do you ensure your soil stacks up? The answer is organic plant food and it’s time to embrace it for your garden.

But first, what exactly is organic plant food? Many people assume plant foods are all the same, but organic varieties pack a lot of punch. Scotts Organic Plant Food is a rich blend of essential nutrients designed to enrich your soil, promote plant health and grow nutritionally rich produce. It’s made with the good stuff and is certified for organic gardens.

Provides goodness for growth!

In the same way that organic food has health benefits for us, organic plant food is the bee’s knees for garden flora.

Made with natural and organic plant fertilisers like fish, humic acid and seaweed, Scotts new Organic Plant Food Concentrate is brimming with essential minerals, protein and amino acids that provide a host of benefits to plants. It encourages robust root systems, strengthens plants against heat, drought and frost, and promotes stronger growth and more luscious foliage.

From herbs and natives, fruit to veggies, it’s the goodness your garden needs for happier, healthier and stronger plants.

Nourishes soil

We’ve touched on the fact that organic plant food plays an important role in the quality of soil. But how does it do it exactly?

The beauty lies in the way organic fertilisers work with nature to feed and nourish your plants over time. As soil-based microorganisms break down the organic matter in plant food, nutrients are gradually released and absorbed by the plants over a period of time.

Not only do microbes release the nutrients like potassium and nitrogen that plants need to grow, but they’re also the answer to a healthy soil structure that retains more water and beneficial minerals and gives plants the support they need as they grow. Robust soil also means less erosion and greater biodiversity in your plant patches.

So do your plants a favour and make their next feed organic.

Helps grow yummy veggies!

If you want loads of flavour in your homegrown veggies and herbs with reduced environmental impact, organic plant food is a must-have ingredient in your garden. Plus, it’s good to know what your family is eating!

By enriching the soil with loads of nutrient-rich matter, organic fertilisers like Scotts new Organic Plant Food Concentrate helps grow tough plants with excellent nutrient uptake. The more goodness your plants absorb, the more flavoursome your homegrown veggies will be.

Trust us, spring salads never tasted so good!

It’s the more sustainable option

There’s a lot of buzz around the term ‘sustainable gardening’ in Australia and with good reason. It refers to growing plants in a way that conserves resources and minimises environmental impacts. And if you’re ready to embrace it, switching to organic plant food should be one of your first steps.

As mentioned earlier, organic plant food uses ingredients that improve the soil without depleting it. It helps support a healthy, balanced garden ecosystem without the need for chemical interference.

Eco-awareness doesn’t end with the ingredients either. Many eco-conscious products like Scotts Organic Plant Food are packaged with less plastic to minimise the environmental impact of waste.

  • I use this range in my garden! It’s been great and my fruit and veg have been sprouting, I can’t wait to harvest

  • Just goes to show that organic plant food is the best.
Organic fertilizers are naturally available mineral sources that contain a moderate amount of plant essential nutrients. They are capable of mitigating problems associated with synthetic fertilizers. They reduce the necessity of repeated application of synthetic fertilizers to maintain soil fertility.

  • I was lucky enough to trial this product and it was so great, it really helped my little vegie patch take off and I can’t wait to eat my veggies and strawberries. This product really boosted the growth of the vegetables and helped keep it healthy. I have since bought more of this product and will continue to buy it.

  • Perfect time for me to read this, I was just thinking that my plants need a repot and a feed. Some I dropped the ball and should have had a repot in winter, but nothing urgent. I’ll have to give this product a try. I usually buy seasol, but I find my cat can’t help but rub her face into it once it’s sprayed on!

  • I do love this time of year because it is such a wonderful time to get out into the garden before it gets too hot. It is a wonderful time for preparing the garden for new planting and new work in the garden. Of course it is so important to feed a garden for a bumper harvest.

    • Human bodies need nourishment and gardens with plants need nourishment too. It is wonderful to watch a garden come to life and thrive with the right attention, care and nourishment. We have a wonderful supply of food from our garden and it is always so good to share the harvest with family and friends.

      • I have to agree 1000%, everything needs good nourishment including plants and vegetables. The soil in Australia is not great in some areas and plants need a helping hand to grow. Organic food always tastes better and has no chemicals to harm our bodies. I am a big believer in organic food.

  • As the soil becomes depleted, you need to add fertilizer, also known as plant food, to replace the lost nutrients your growing plants continue to need. Properly fed plants develop stronger, more efficient roots. They also grow to become more robust, more beautiful, and more productive than those that aren’t fed.

    • Vegetable gardeners can fertilize their garden beds about once a month with a quick-release fertilizer or about once a season with a slow-release fertilizer. Some gardeners prefer to feed their flowers and plants with a liquid-soluble plant food once every one to two weeks. So it’s important not to over – use.

  • Yes, I found this really useful. It is easy to use and seems to make a difference to the plants. I appreciated the chance to trial as I’d not used plant food before. Even my eleven year old found it pretty easy to use on her flowerbed. Well worth trying, gardeners.
