She’s not shy; she is just holding back her exquisiteness, so that she doesn’t intimidate you – Anonymous

All those brides who are soon expecting a baby should definitely rejoice for two fortunate reasons. One is the arrival of their precious baby and the other is that auspicious moment when they will walk down the aisle and say ‘I Do’.

Now most of the would-be-brides, dream and plan about those special moments for years but on the contrary, most of the would-be-mamas remain more concerned about their baby bump, bigger breasts, enlarged tummy and expanded hips instead of any wedding ethos. And above all, most of them believe that looking for a perfect maternity wedding dress which is both flattering as well as comfortable is a tedious job. But all these concerns should not deter you from being a stunning Preg-Bride.

The key here is to dress yourself in attractive wedding-attire which will make you feel equally comfortable and it hardly matters even if it is not a traditional wedding dress.

The article focuses on certain tips to help you search for a perfect maternity wedding dress which will gently ensemble both you as well as your baby bump:

Tailor’s Counsel:

To ensure better results, always believe in advance preparation. Seeking proper guidance from any skilled dressmaker would be an added advantage, as you would be considering your belly-size on the wedding day. These dressmakers would certainly improvise your wedding dress style and are capable enough to help you out in case your dress requires any alterations during those last moments. Just browse for the dress which comes with an array of sizes and seek their expert opinion before finalizing your perfect wear.

To or not to flaunt your baby bump:

Now you might not need any particular maternity wedding dress in case if you are still in your early days-of-pregnancy. You can choose from as many dresses at your disposal and can even consider buying a particular dress on which you have already set your eyes on. However, in case if you’re 16 weeks or more near your wedding date, you definitely need to select your wedding dress more carefully. For the brides who do not wish to showcase their growing tummy, selecting a dress silhouette such as the ball gown silhouettes or a tulle overlay or a strapless waist dress with a lace that complements their body-type would be a chic choice. And those who deliberately want to flaunt their beautiful baby bumps should choose the correct fabric with adequate elasticity allowing a little nice stretch to acquire a silhouette’s shape.

Simplicity:

Now for every Preg-Bride their baby bump is the most precious accessory and must not be vied with any vague gown or heaps of ornaments. Simplicity is the key and you can attain it by showcasing your baby bump with a belly section embroidered wedding gown or dresses with a higher waistline which won’t press your fetus with corset are highly recommended.

Accentuate your favorite features:

Brides always aspire for a wedding dress which augments their assets. Now it could mean mulling over a strappy or a strapless wedding dress without any accommodating bra to support a seductive cleavage show or dress yourself in a loose collar that would surely attract attention towards your soft neckline and shoulders or you can even opt for a mini dress to flaunt your sizzling sexy legs. Just feel confident enough to desire for any, which will let you feel comfortable as well as can exhibit your beautiful curves.

Ideal Fabric:

The worst nightmare for every bride would be to drape herself in a dress material that will make them feel sweaty and sticky for the entire day. Now your wedding dress would look and feel quite diverse depending on which fabric it is made out of. So for a comfortable lightweight dress, just pick a well-lined as well as a soft- flowing fabric, for instance Chiffon, Silk Tulle or Georgette.

Ideal Size:

For the most appropriate dress fit, cautiously study each of the sizing-charts provided along with the dress which you’re specifically considering for your big-day. Now that way, you’d be in a better position to judge your own body transformations when you’re closer to your big-day and make those last minute changes accordingly. We recommend that if you’re stuck between sizes, you must always opt for one size-up. As it’s much easier for your dressmaker to rework your size-up dress compared to a too small dress (as it might give them harrowing time).

Ideal Dress-color:

Pick any color confidently which complements you in the finest way and match it accordingly with your style of accessories. White, which was once considered to symbolize purity as well as maidenhood and has always been deemed as the traditional wedding- dress-color, doesn’t embrace the symbolism anymore like it did earlier. Nowadays, you can choose from numerous shades of whites such as champagne, ivory or light pastel colors, in accordance with your particular skin tones or to achieve a bolder-effect you can even experiment with colors other than white such as reds, pinks, blues or some darker shades.

So just pamper yourself on your big-day by picking your favourite maternity wedding-dress and garnishing it with your favorite accessories, before walking down-the-aisle and before saying ‘I Do’.

  • I haven’t actually been to a wedding with a Maternity bride but these seem like good points. I suppose it also depends on the bride whether she actually wants to ‘cover’ the bump or to let it show.

  • Empire Style Dress is a perfect style. I do like big V-Neck lines and backless to take the eye there and not at the front of the dress.

  • I was 6 months pregnant when I was married and I had an Empire Style wedding dress. You couldn’t really even see my bump due to the style of the dress. Empire Style fits around the bust and free flowing fabric drops from the bust. This is a GREAT style to walk down the aisle with a baby bump.

  • Wear something comfortable. It is more important to be able to move and not get too hot, etc. I was 6 months pregnant and our photographer didn’t even realise I was pregnant until the end of the day when we told him.

  • In primary school a friend of mine drew a design of the dress she would like if ever she got married. We were drawing during school holidays because we reckoned we were bored. When she was getting married she was going to buy materials etc. and have one made. One day she was walking through some shops looking for something formal to wear to another function as she very rarely went to events at night and had nothing suitable at all. She spotted the exact design in a shop 15 years later. She rang a dressmaker she knew who said to buy it but one size larger in case it needed to be alterred later. She was able to buy the dress cheaper than even part of the fabric was. The dress she bought was actually being sold as an evening dress, not a wedding dress.

    • OMG! What a bizarre story, it was just meant to be!
