The Royal family has revealed that Princess Beatrice is pregnant with her second child.

The 36-year-old granddaughter of the late Queen Elizabeth, and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi will welcome their second child in the UK’s spring. The couple also has a three-year-old daughter, Sienna, and Edoardo has an eight-year-old son, Wolfie, from a previous relationship.

Buckingham Palace released a statement on social media, saying, “Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are very pleased to announce that they are expecting their second child together in early spring; a sibling for Wolfie and Sienna.

“His Majesty The King has been informed and both families are delighted with the news.”

The Princess’ mum, Sarah Ferguson, was also thrilled with the news, writing on social media, “A very proud GiGi/Mum today. Such an incredible blessing and an embrace to my heart.

“Wolfie, August, Ernie and Sienna will be over the moon to have the fifth member of the five aside!”

She also penned a sweet note to her daughter, which read:

“Darling Beatrice. Words cannot quite express the joy and excitement I feel as you and Edo prepare to welcome another precious addition to your beautiful family. Becoming a granny again fills my heart with so much happiness and gratitude. Watching you grow as a mother has been one of the greatest privileges of my life, and now to see your family blossom further is an absolute blessing.”

  • Such wonderful news for two people who are obviously very much in love with each other and the earlier siblings. It is so lovely to hear of happy news within the Royal family rather than the constant bickering we are informed about between Will & Harry within the family. This news and that Catherine and King Charles are so far beating the cancer diagnoses is much better to hear about.

  • Baby news is always exciting and it’s even more exciting when there is news of a new Royal baby to come. Wishing them all the best with this journey on expanding their little family. Im sure their other children will be delighted to have another little baby to fuss over in the coming months.

  • They seem such a beautiful little family and seem very happy. It’s so good to see. The letter from Sarah Fergusson is super cute! I have always found her to be reasonably down to earth for a royal. The kids have such cute names too that are a bit more unusual for royals.

  • Not a royalist but baby news merits congrats. Hope the more toxic treatment Eugenie and Beatrice extended to Katherine will not be repeated. With age comes experience and more compassion.

  • Congrats

  • They’re less in your face than some of the other royals, which is surely a good thing. I don’t know that the royal family really adds much to the world anymore – except maybe for gossip magazines, which I tend to only read in waiting rooms. Still, congratulations. Babies are happy news.

  • Congratulations. I never follow celebrities or royals but lovely news.

  • I’m not someone who follows the royal family really. I’ve no idea who princess Beatrice is (other than I read here that she is the granddaughter of Queen Elizibeth) or who her mother (as the article states as Sarah Ferguson) is ? I looked up at Google and discover she’s the Duchess of York, the former wife (1986–96) of Prince Andrew, Duke of York. And than I don’t know who the Duke of York is, lol.

    • The royal family appears to have less relevancy than they used to many, many years ago and overtime this will no doubt continue to decrease. Times and circumstances are quite different and there appears to be less interest in the current royal family. It is still lovely to hear baby news regardless of a royal title.

  • Baby news is always welcome because it does bring a smile. I do like the look of the laneway in the photo; it looks like a wonderful laneway & walkway for children to walk with families. It looks like the sort of area and walking path that would be wonderful for children to explore.

  • Not a royal family supporter but I wish them all the best of their new baby.

  • Congratulations! I’m not a particular fan of the royals – I think they’re generally pretty useless – but I’m always happy to hear about new babies for anyone. They seem a fairly down to earth family, and I hope they’re very happy together. I’m sure that the older kids will be delighted with a new sibling.

  • Very sweet news for the family, another royal to add to the list. I love the name Gigi for a grandma, sounds much more chic than nanny or Nanna. The kids so far have such unique names, I wonder what this next addition will be. Transitional names are on the way in.
