  • Soft & Delicious

    4.5 out of 5

I love the soft fluffy texture of this bread. It’s so nice with either sweet or savoury topping and the crust is never too hard rather quite soft. I find it keeps really well and doesn’t go stale very quick. Very affordable and easily available at most supermarkets.

Light rye bread from the Abbotts Village range is my favourite and I love that it is divine both fresh and toasted and doesn’t go all flat and thin when toasted.

Family favorite bread is Abbott’s Bakery Light Rye. I am buying this bread for a long time. Its expensive than coles or woolworths brand but tasty.

  • Favourite bread

This is my go to bread. It is soft and doesn’t have the crunch of seeds like
Multigrain and is better for you then white bread. Always in the trolley

  • Nice rye bread

    3.5 out of 5

This bread is lovely but the shelf life I have found is really short. I also find sometimes when I buy the loaf of bread that it seems quite moist in the packet. It tastes lovely though and holds together well.

  • Healthy bread

This bread was delicious with butter and vegemite accompanied with my morning coffee. I probably wouldn’t purchase again as I prefer the seeds and grains one. The texture was thick and fluffy.

  • Ok Bread

This rye bread is ok but not my fav on the market. I prefer rye bread toasted with butter and a condiment to taste the best

  • Just Bought This Week

I purchased this bread this week because of a special offer which made the bread more affordable and I must say it’s great. A lovely texture and flavour and I would love to buy it again when it’s on special.

  • The only bread my kids will eat!

    5 out of 5

We love Abbott’s light rye bread and my family eats at least one loaf a day. My kids will not eat any other bread and my teenage boys demolish a loaf along with half a jar of peanut butter everyday after school.

  • Delicious, soft and fluffy bread - healthy too!

    5 out of 5

Recently was on an elimination diet and was not able to eat many things – this however was my given to for rye bread. I enjoyed it with fresh and toasted. As I was the only one eating it I also froze it and it remained fresh when defrosted! Not turning back to other options!

  • Better Than White Bread.

    5 out of 5

I decided to give Abbott’s Village Bakery Light Rye Bread a try about eight months ago while I was shopping in Woolworths, they keep a good range of Abbott’s Village Bakery Bread. Hubby wasn’t too keen when I arrived home with it as he’s a white bread fan. I bought it to make ham salad sandwiches, the bread is delicious. Hubby couldn’t tell much difference between this and white bread, except to say he’s a convert. It was so soft, not what I’d expected, we all love the taste and it’s a healthier option. While I still make the odd loaf of white bread in my bread maker, I’ll never buy off the shelf white bread again over this product. I’ve since tried another variety by the same maker and it’s fair to say, they know how to make great bread. I haven’t toasted it yet but I can say it stays just as fresh for many days.

  • Very nice.

    5 out of 5

Recently at our elders gym group l tried this lite Rye bread. I was really nice, not what l had expected. for years l wouldn’t consider anything other than white, and now wholemeal but never gave this a thought. We have a healthy lunch with sandwiches and fruit at the end of the session and have a catch up with everyone. I only found out on yesterday it was in fact Abbott’s Village Bakery Light Rye Bread though l had been eating it all term. Now l know what sort of bread it is l can actually go and buy some. i doesn’t leave me feeling bloated or sickly after my sandwiches too.

  • Crisps up beautifully.

    4.5 out of 5

Hearty flavour and it crisps beautifully in the toaster. Great with jam but also plain with butter. Makes great sandwiches as it’s not dry I toasted either! Fabulous healthy tasting bread!

  • Even the kids like it!

    5 out of 5

I switched from white bread to rye, anticipating that kids might not enjoy it. I was pleasantly surprised and they love it. It stays fresh well, is great for sandwiches or toast.

  • Disappointing bread

    1.5 out of 5

I used to always buy Abbott’s Light Rye, however recently I have had three loaves that hadn’t baked properly and approximately the first 6 slices of bread had holes in them. I no longer buy Abbott’s…expensive,, poor quality control. I have contacted Abbott’s who kindly sent a gift card.

  • Abbots

Abbott’s Village Bakery Light Rye Bread is a delicious loaf of bread and has a good taste. I love this bread for sandwiches. A good salad sandwich made with this bread is the best.

I love a good bread – this one is brilliant. Rye adds just the right tough of sour to the load and makes it super tasty

  • Softest Bread

This is one of my favourite breads. I love it soft it stays fresh and soft all day when I pack it for my lunch.

  • First time with Rye bread

    3.5 out of 5

Always have been used to wholemeal , this was the first time I tried Rye . I found the loaf really bland and perhaps due to this type of grain made the bread harsher than the ususal soft loaf . I would only buy this bread if you love rye and perhaps used to this type of grain . Nevertheless, always good quality from this brand .

  • It's OK but too soft for us

    3 out of 5

We always appreciate a good quality light rye bread from the baker, especially when they are freshly baked so we can add butter and honey to it. We find this brand is a little too soft to our liking, and we prefer a crispy crust too.

  • Good alternative to white

    4.5 out of 5

This was the only bread I managed to swap to from white that my husband enjoys. Now he prefers it. It’s a very nice bread but does tend to dry out quicker.

  • rustic

    4 out of 5

I quite like this bread. I don’t buy it all the time – only when on special. It is soft, but a little dry, and I really like the dusted top which makes it look quite rustic

  • Soft & delicious :)

    4 out of 5

I quite enjoy this bread when I want to indulge a little. Being rye it’s a bit lower in gluten too which my body prefers. Love it lightly toasted with some avocado.
