This recipe is so easy and the taste is so amazing. I have cooked a smaller portion just as a side dish for one or two in the airfryer. Sometimes you may need to use more potatoes but you will work this out if you run short. We used to make this in the charcoal chicken shop and I have been cooking it for years now.

Ingredients (makes 1 large baking tray)

  • 8 Rashes of bacon
  • 1 large onion
  • 2 teaspoons of garlic
  • 2 tubs of cream
  • 1 tbs Vegeta
  • 8 large potatoes
  • olive oil
  • pinch pepper
  • 1 pkt tasty cheese or any other cheese you like

Method

  1. Peel and slice potatoes, you don't want the too thick or to thin.
  2. Cook bacon and onion and add 1 teaspoon of garlic with about a tbsp of olive oil set aside
  3. In a jug pour in cream add vegeta and the other teaspoon of garlic
  4. Add a layer of sliced potato in baking tray, sprinkle with cheese, sprinkle with bacon and onion mix then pour part cream making sure you pour it over all potato. Repeat step 1 If you have more room in the tray you can repeat again. Cover with foil Bake until potato is soft, you can test this with a fork Remove foil then back for another 15 minutes. Serve as a side dish with dinner.

  • I have made a few things in the air fryer so I will tweak this recipe for the 2 of us to enjoy. I am always looking for new recipes to make the most of my air fryer

  • Looks like this would feed a lot of people and since there’s only my son and myself I’ll have to give it a miss. Shame because it looks delicious

  • Everyone keeps telling me I need to get an airfryer but I’m still not convinced I need to get one as we have so many kitchen appliances which just sit in the cupboard.
This recipe really does look good though and I’m sure the kids would enjoy it.

  • A handy side dish, but oh so fat !

  • sounds good – vegeta is (or was) full of MSG, so be careful of it :)

    • You could use a different kind of stock or the “Vegeta No MSG Added” they have brought on the market since

  • The Vegeta would give this a wonderful flavour, and while I know you said to use it as a side-dish, I could happily sit down to a big bowl of this on its own for my dinner. I love chilli, so I’d probably put a sprinkle of chilli powder over the top, or a dash of tabasco in the sauce.

    • My family could sit down and eat it for a meal as well. If you love chilli it would add a nice heat to it, but I am unable to eat it as I have very bad reactions, you could say allergic, but I love the smell of spicy dishes.
