Perfect with a cuppa and when you feel like a sweet treat.
Ingredients (makes 16 squares)
- 1/2 cup plain flour
- 1/2 cup self raising flour
- 1/3 cup desiccated coconut
- 1/3 cup caster sugar
- 100 grams butter ,melted
- 2 cups mixed unsalted nuts
- 1/2 cup cacao nibs ( optional)
- 1/2 cup sunflower seeds ( optional)
- 1 can ( 395 g) sweetened condensed milk
Method
- Mix flours , coconut and sugar. Add butter , mix well
- Place in to paper lined baking tray and press down firmly
- Bake in 180 degree oven for 10 minutes
- Remove from oven and pour nuts ( and cacao nibs/ seeds if using ) over the base
- Pour the condensed milk over the nuts , ensuring all parts of the nuts are covered
- Place bake in oven and bake for another 20-25 minutes until golden
- Allow to cool before cutting into squares
Notes
This keeps well for a week in an airtight container in the fridge
