BEING JADE

by Kate Belle

A tragic death. A family divided. Only truth can set them free.

Banjo Murphy is killed on the night he finally walks away from his wife, Jade, after twenty-five years of her adultery. In the aftermath, Banjo is bewildered to discover he still exists, and in despair he watches Jade collapse into deep depression and his daughters, Lissy and Cassandra, struggle with their unexpected loss.

Lissy is tortured by the mystery surrounding her father’s death. What compelled Banjo to leave the night he died? And why won’t Jade talk about what happened? Despite their volatile relationship, Lissy believes her parents’ love to have been enduring, but sensible

Cassandra sees things differently. When Cassy discovers a sketchbook chronicling Jade’s affairs, the truth of their parents’ relationship begins to unfold and Lissy’s loyalties are divided.

Searching for answers, Lissy contacts Jade’s ex-lovers. And watching from afar, Banjo aches as he discovers what these men meant to Jade – until Lissy’s quest reveals an explosive truth …

Being Jade is story about the passion and the bond that is hard to explain but impossible to erase from one’s mind.

  • emotional, thought provoking, encouraging you to question social values

I have enjoyed reading this novel. It had suspense as it unraveled who Jade is as a person. At times I felt sorry for her whilst other times I was left sheathing at her apparent selfishness. As the ending unraveled I was left still disappointment in her. I understood her behaviour better in some aspects but I felt her pride against Banjo’s incorrect assumptions was devastating. I would read a sequel.

  • Amazing, enthralling and moving

I’m supposed to post two reviews on this book one when I start it and one when I finish it but I can’t. I was so enthralled with this book that I couldn’t put it down, I had it read in 5 hours from front to back. The story shocked me and moved me, I even teared up at the end which was a credit to the author. The storyline was dramatic yet you believed it all and you felt it all. Simply amazing, I can’t wait to read another book by the incredible Kate belle.

  • I read it in one sitting

BEING JADE by Kate Belle is difficult to review as it is not your typical book. There’s an intriguing plot and vividly drawn characters that engage you in such a way, you can’t put the book down. I read this book cover to cover in one sitting, I wanted to read it that much.

  • Captivating and enthralling

I really enjoyed this book. Captivating and enthralling it held my interest from start to finish. Part of the ending I guessed at but, the rest I didn’t see coming. It’s not a light hearted book, rather heavy at times, making you question things you probably would never of thought before. I highly recommend this book.

  • SPELLBOUNDING

This book sent shivers down my spine, made me wonder and had me exasperated at times. Jade’s open honesty to herself and her Husband in how she conducted her life, left him bewildered and hurt. Banjo showed unconditional love and endearment, whilst Jade took it on a whim and countless times threw it back at Banjo irrationally and thoughtlessly. Her true love manages to shine possibly at the expense of herself?

  • Great read! captivating interesting well written

I fell in love with the characters instantly. I found myself falling in love with jade the same way banjo did. Her character had a hold on me instantly and I wanted to know more.
    The book was beautifully written.
It was not stereotypical and not a simple read.
It left me questioning a lot of things about myself and what certain things mean to me…..which I loved!
When a book leaves me thinking/talking about it after I put it down, that’s a good book!
Overall I loved it and was not expecting to enjoy it so much honestly.
I have now ordered a copy of her first book the yearning!

  • Great story, hard to put down.

I finished the book in 2 nights, I couldn’t put it down. I was hooked from the first page.
It was an intriguing story that had you wanting to know more from the beginning. You felt instantly connected to Banjo and the other characters.
The beginning of the story opens with the main character talking in the first person, explain how he had passed.
Each chapter built on the complex, dynamic and fiery relationship between Banjo and Jade and how both were a product of their upbringing.
It is an exciting story about passion, family and true love, albeit one sided to a degree.
You won’t regret reading this book!

  • Being Jade. An instantly captivating read. An Australian backdrop.

I enjoyed the book Being Jade. I was connected from the beginning, with the main character Banjo. As he opens up first page with explaining how he is dead. This indeed, had me wanting to know more as Banjo was instantly a likeable character. Then just as I, as the reader learned of him, he was a dead person talking about his life.
The story is set in Australia and based on Banjo and his love for his wife Jade. A complicated girl that he fell for and continued to love as she became a complicated woman. The story is easy to read and enjoyable. I can say there is erotic scenes and a rawness about the characters and backdrop of Aussie life. I don’t see glossy good looking characters, but interesting, real and emotional people, because this is what wanted to be portrayed.
I have to say that I thought it was written by a ‘bloke’ just in the language used and how Banjo talks throughout the book about himself in only a way a man can – BUT the book is written by a woman.
Jade is a product of her environment, a prostitue mother, no father. Banjo rescues her and is in awe of her and in love, loyal unconditionally, unlike her to him!
I recommend reading Being Jade to see for yourself why Banjo died ( :

In my 16 years as a mum, I’ve learnt a thing or two about time savers and time suckers. For instance, looking for misplaced footy boots, school books or chargers is a complete time sucker. On the flip side, the ultimate time savers are the unsung heroes of the home – the clever appliances that make everyday tasks simple.

Westinghouse appliances are the masters at freeing up busy families to have more time to do what they love (or look for those missing footy boots – FYI they’re usually in the car!).

Keep It Cool, With A Friendly Fridge

Westinghouse 609L French door fridge (WHE6170BB)

Just like mums and dads, fridges are absolute workhorses of the family, but do you just ever wish your fridge could just get what it’s like to be busy? The game-changing Westinghouse 609L French door fridge (WHE6170BB) is a bit of a mind-reader. It just knows what a family needs! The FlexSpace Fully Convertible Drawer does whatever you need it to.

With the touch of a button you can chill drinks, freeze meat or store deli meats for school lunches, with five different settings. No need to shuffle things from the fridge to the freezer and back. We also love, love, love the Dual Freezer Storage which gives that much-needed extra space.

Whether it’s storing leftovers, freezing, or controlling humidity, this fridge is happy to help the family keep its cool. Literally.

Make Dinner A Sprint, Not A Marathon

One of the most hectic times of the day revolves around getting dinner on the table for the hungry hoards. It’s usually a race against the clock in between sport, dance and music but with the Westinghouse 60cm multi-function pyrolytic oven (WVEP6918DD) fast heat up time it means dinner is cooking in record time. And with the ability to air fry frozen food without defrosting and clean itself using PyroClean it means there’s more time for catching up with the kids in between school and activities. It almost like having your own sous chef. Another Westinghouse appliance that’s happy to help!

Less Dish Stress

Westinghouse 60cm freestanding dishwasher (WSF6608KXB)

My family know I absolutely hate a sink that’s overflowing with dirty dishes. The easier it is for everyone to help, the more likely they’ll do it! Westinghouse 60cm freestanding dishwasher (WSF6608KXB) are bursting with features that are all aimed at calming the chaos – with room for up to 15 place settings, fast wash cycles and fast drying – and they’re quiet. Wash overnight, and everyone can pitch in during the morning rush!

More Laundry, Less Time

The never-ending story of my house is The Laundry. I’m sure the laundry hampers are bottomless pits which are never truly empty. At least with the Westinghouse 10kg EasyCare 700 Front load washing machine – WWF1044M7SA everything is geared to getting the washing done quicker. Which means you can do more in less time – so good.

The Full Load 60 gets an entire load done in 60 minutes or less. The higher spin speed gets more moisture out of your clothes, which means less drying time, and you can set the timer so the washing is done when you’re ready for it. Everything points to spending a whole lot less time in the laundry!

Dry In No Time

Westinghouse 10kg front load washing machine (WWF1044M7WA)

Finally, to the true unsung hero of the house – the dryer. Westinghouse 9kg heat pump dryer (WDH904N7SA) is created to take care of your clothes, while making sure they dry in the quickest time. I love being able to throw a load in the dryer and by the time I’m back from school drop off and ready to start work from home, the clothes and dry!

Whatever you’re doing around the home, Westinghouse is happy to help, by making your life easier so you can spend more time doing the things that matter. Time with our family really is precious and goes by in the blink of an eye. So things like a fast wash, quick freeze and an oven that’s at temperature quickly add up to less stress and more time.

Ready to simplify the every day? Explore the Westinghouse range today.

Mouths of Mums is proudly working with Westinghouse to bring you this article.

  • I have the Westinghouse dishwasher mentioned in this article and I think it is brilliant. I absolutely love the draw at the top for your knives forks etc. it is so much better than them picking out at the bottom with the plates. I also love the look of the fridge, it looks like it would look perfect in my house 😜
