One morning, Grug wakes up and decides to become a superhero.
Wearing a cape and a mask, and a sword made from sticks, Grug and Cara, his best friend, transform the Grugmobile into the Zoom Zoom Car and head off to save someone. But the Zoom Zoom Car has too much zoom and Grug and Cara discover that if they can’t save someone else, they can at least save themselves.
Grug is an easily recognizable character for toddlers. One of their first early books to be introduced to, it doesn’t take long for the little ones to become avid readers. Grug is endearing and his travels and actions are simplied for easy understanding. Well done Ted Prior.
My 3 year old boy is obsessed with Grug at the moment. I’m pretty sure we have the whole collection. He definitely has his favourites (Grug plays cricket) but they are such great books for little ones. They are short enough that they hold their attention until you finish. Everyone should have Grug in their lives.

Now I continue on with the Grug stories with my 3 children and they are quite happy to listen to these stories. My daughter tells me that it’s an old book if nan read it to me. I enjoy reading Grug to my daughter as she gets so much enjoyment out of it, there so easy to follow for youngsters and its simple to understand and not too heavy reading before bed for little ones. The pictures are cute yet telling if your child isn’t quite at the age of understanding the words yet.
My 3 year old loves our story time and often reaches for Grug. It is very easy for kids to follow and i often find that she can recall the story quite easily.

Silly old Grug, Cara and their Grugmobile are such fun for young children to read (or be read to). I love the fact that it is so silly and makes children use their imagination and get a love of reading. Grug comes in a whole series of fun books so they never get boring. Great value in a book.
Having a boy and a girl, I love finding books that have male and female characters, especially superheroes! I grew up with Grug and was excited to see them back on the shelves after I had first child. It’s a great book for kids, with Grug and Cara as superheros, using their imagination and pretending (just like my kids), so they can relate.
My kids love the Grug books, they have a lot of words but my kids definitely stay hooked to looking at the cute illustrations. Grug the Superhero is another wonderful book in the Grug series by Ted Prior.
I think the way the Grug series is written and presented is the reason way it is so hugely popular.
The font used is large and clear and tge language used is plain and simple. The illustrations take up a full page and are colourful.
Grug is great for parents to read to their younger children or for emerging independent readers to read.
Kids of all ages enjoy reading stories about Grug and the adventures he gets up to. My girls still happily read Grug, even though they are older than the recommended ages.
Part of the appeal of Grug is the simple, basic story line and the plain, understandable language used. The illustrations are also big and bold.
We still have our collection of Grug books and on occasion will pull them out to read.
I was not chosen for this review but have such fond memories of reading Grug books as a child (many moons ago). Seeing this and reading the reviews on the mouth of mums website has brought back those memories and I will be sure to purchase and share the Grug story collection with my children.
Grug was a family favourite when I was gowing up. We use to have him at home and in the classroom to read. They were great books which helped us to read too the words are easy and it’s fun to see the adventures that he wold always get into. I have read these books to my children as my mum kept some of my favourite books as they are nice and skinny!

The Grug books have been around for a very long time. My kids had some of these books when they were young. All the stories are quite entertaining and this one Grug the Superhero is no exception! The book is beautifully illustrated as well with vivjd colours. I have no doubt every child would love this little book added to their collection!
Grug The Superhero, as with most Grug books, is a simple likeable story about Grug.
The illustrations are bright and bold, taking up a page which is great for the younger readers, ie toddlers.
For the emerging, independent reader, the minimal wording, in large clear bold text, makes it an ideal book for them to practice reading.
I know who Grug is and have enjoyed reading many books in this series.
I have had Grug books in our house when the kids were younger! My youngest is now 36. Grug has been around for a long time. These books are delightful for kids to read and this latest one is no exception. Extremely good value for money and illustrated well!
When my girls were younger, we’d often read Grug. Even now that they are older, they still get enjoyment from the series. Grug stories are simple, usually one to two sentences per page, detailing the latest adventure of Grug. When reading Grug it usually does pay to have a few of the books ready as they can be read under five minutes. I like Grug books, they’re easy to read, and have a simple plot to follow for the littlies.
An entertaining and colourful book which isn’t too long so it’s a favourite for us at bedtime. Grug books are always a hit in our house with so many wonderful tales. He was even a favourite for me when I was young so to be able to read his tales to my children is extra special.
I grew up with Grug books, but I find kids today find them a little dated and boring. Personally I do too, when reading them – the story’s are ok, but they lack illustrations. There are so many more exciting books to choose from these days, unfortunately Grug doesn’t rate very highly for me or the kids.
Even though my girls are now past simple books, they still enjoy reading stories about Grug and the antics he gets up to.

Grug is an adorable character. What I love about Grug, when I read this book to my girls is that I’m reading this book for my own enjoyment aswell! Grug is one of those characters that you remember reading about even years later. Who dreams of being a superhero. Everybody!
