  • Great for toddlers

Grug is an easily recognizable character for toddlers. One of their first early books to be introduced to, it doesn’t take long for the little ones to become avid readers. Grug is endearing and his travels and actions are simplied for easy understanding. Well done Ted Prior.

  • We love Grug

My 3 year old boy is obsessed with Grug at the moment. I’m pretty sure we have the whole collection. He definitely has his favourites (Grug plays cricket) but they are such great books for little ones. They are short enough that they hold their attention until you finish. Everyone should have Grug in their lives.

  • Grug in the playground

I remember back when I was a kid and my Mum would read grug to me and my brothers and sister. Now I continue on with the Grug stories with my 3 children and they are quite happy to listen to these stories. My daughter tells me that it’s an old book if nan read it to me. Grug will always be a hit with kids.

  • My daughter and I read Grug everynight before bed.

I enjoy reading Grug to my daughter as she gets so much enjoyment out of it, there so easy to follow for youngsters and its simple to understand and not too heavy reading before bed for little ones. The pictures are cute yet telling if your child isn’t quite at the age of understanding the words yet.

  • Love grug

I remember reading grug books growing up and i loved them and all of the different things grug does. Now I can read them with my little Boy and have adventures with grug and each new book. I hope he will enjoy the fun and adventure reading grug, as much as I did when I was a little girl

  • Great Grug

Silly old Grug, Cara and their Grugmobile are such fun for young children to read (or be read to). I love the fact that it is so silly and makes children use their imagination and get a love of reading. Grug comes in a whole series of fun books so they never get boring. Great value in a book.

  • Hooray for Grug and Cara

Having a boy and a girl, I love finding books that have male and female characters, especially superheroes! I grew up with Grug and was excited to see them back on the shelves after I had first child. It’s a great book for kids, with Grug and Cara as superheros, using their imagination and pretending (just like my kids), so they can relate.

  • Long time GRUG reader

I grew up reading GRUG books, but I had forgotten about them until my mother in law found a pile of them when cleaning out her garage. After sitting down and reading them with my kids (I am not sure who enjoyed it more) I had to get the latest release. We were not disappointed. My kids loved reading about Grug’s superhero adventure and now I often see them outside pretending to be GRUG 🙂

  • Grug is such fun

Grug books are something the children enjoyed and Grug is such fun and a little different than your everyday kids books. The books are easy to read and have become a family favorite, not just for our children but their friends enjoy them too. They are often the first ones to be picked up because they are a good size and simple for the children to understand and relate too. I would recommend these books to any parents as a picture book even, for the younger children in the family

  • Grug lover but is there a typo?

I love Grug books, I bought this for my baby at Christmas. A cute story but you probably need to know the characters of previous Grug stories to enjoy it as much as we did. There appears to be a typo they instead of the, or a, which I was really disappointed about.

  • Not currently a Grug fan.

We (my 16 month old and me) have not read “Grug The Superhero”. We have however read several Grug books from the local library. I was not familiar with the series so I borrowed a couple of the books because I like to try to borrow different types/ styles of books each week. I liked the Australian style of illustrations.

I am not a fan of the books/ stories. Also, my daughter is too young for the books – perhaps that’s why I’m not a fan. It is entirely possible/ probable that she will enjoy the books as she ages. We will revisit the books again in a year or so.

  • Grug

After reading the review by Mom’s community members of the book ‘Grug the Superhero’ I have decided to get the book for the family. It looks like a lovely book with fantastic illustrations and seems to be a book that is loved by kids. Looking forward to reading this book with the kids.

  • My 5 year old loved it!

My 5 year old loved this Grug story. We already have a couple of others and have borrowed some from the library and there is something just fun about them. Grug can do anything with his imagination. It’s a great “reader” for those beginning to learn to read as it’s got enough words on the pages to make it interesting and isn’t like your usual boring readers.

This is a great quick read book that is a great collection to the set.

Highly recommended! Its nice to see that Grug is still “alive and well” and that there are so many children that are still experiencing the storeies. I sincerely hope that there are many more additional stories over the next few years to add to our collection.

  • GRUGtastic.

Oh how Santa always brings the best and most loved presents. Grug is a favourite, always was, still is, and always will be. This book has large print with amazingly colourful illustrations, this lovable long haired character is always looking for a wonderful adventure and this book is perfect to read at bed time, or as my youngens would say lets snug with Grug. No sticks aloud but we can turn the bed into a Zoom Zoom car. This book is a ton of fun.

I grew up loving Grug as did my husband. We gave my nephew a 10 pack of Grug books when he was younger and he loves them. Now my best friend sends my little girls Grug books and they love them too. It’s great getting to read some of the old favourites to our little ones.

  • Great Kids book to read with your children

I cannot recommend this highly enough, Grug is a hero in out home for a number of reasons including bedtime, Unfortunately a Grug book is used for bribes to encourage early to bed, but there is nothing like the enjoyment of reading a book with your children and encouraging the love of reading from an early age, this puts them is good stead for the rest of their lives, this book in particular is entertaining and enjoyable for both children and adults alike.

  • Love Grug, but slightly disappointed with this one

Our household is a huge Grug fan and we usually read them over and over again however this particular story only got the once over. Still a good one for our shelves but perhaps will need to revisit it once my little man discovers superheroes.

  • I loved this book, my son has yet to let me read it

I am so sorry, I just could not get my son to read this book. He generally loves story time but honestly, it was like the minute that book arrived at my house he just didnt want any books read to him, its been a few weeks and he is so resistant. I know he will like it eventually, he is 22 months and is testing his ability to make his own decisions. One day we will read this properly and we will love it. I am still rating this book as great, because I remember Grug from when I was little and I always loved his books, so I know my son will. All in good time.

Whether you’re a seasoned or first-time mum, protecting your baby’s delicate skin is right up there on the priorities list. Because when their skin is irritation-free, it really does make for a happier bub! Anyone who’s had to deal with nappy rash (me included!) knows it’s an inescapable mum truth.

Having skin irritation as an adult is super distracting and annoying. So just imagine what that’s like for our teeny babies and toddlers, who need to focus on sleep, eat and play. No wonder they can be so upset when they have nappy rash.

One thing you do need to ditch when it comes to nappy rash is mum guilt. It happens despite our best efforts. But it is helpful if you can get ahead of the game by doing as much as you can to try and prevent nappy rash in the first place.

We asked our hundreds of thousands of Mouths of Mums members for their tried-and-true, trusted nappy rash tips, and their responses came down to four key tips. So if you’re about to have your first baby, or your fifth, it’s worth popping on the kettle and reading through what’s helped other mums.

Fail-Safe Nappy Rash Tips From Mums

What we love about these tips is they’re perfect for mums and expecting mums, and they’re really simple to do. Everything from what to use and what to steer clear of, to helpful hints on caring for delicate baby skin.

1. Nappy Free Time

“As much free nappy time as possible. Lay baby on a blanket covered with a towel on the floor, without a nappy on, if possible in front of a warm sunny window.” – Joanne W.

We love nappy free time for newborn and toddlers (although it’s a lot harder to get them to stay in one place!). And while nappy free time is one of the most popular nappy rash tips among our mums, using the right nappy also plays a huge part in protecting against irritation on your baby’s skin. For example, Huggies Ultra Dry Nappy Pants have clever Rapid-Dry™ Technology, which instantly absorbs for drier skin. And they’re perfect for day and night, with up to 12 hours of leakage protection.

2. Change Nappies Frequently

“For me, what worked on my two kids is not leaving them in soiled nappies too long. I definitely changed as soon as they were wet and let their skin air dry before placing a new nappy on. I would rather go through more nappies than have to deal with the uncomfortable rash they would feel.” – MoM Member

Frequent nappy changes are a fail-safe way to keep moisture, but it’s not always practical (babies just love to fill their nappies while you’re out and about!) Huggies Newborn Nappies are designed to help protect a baby’s delicate skin with a zinc-enriched layer*, clinically proven to help protect against skin irritation.

3. Use A Barrier Cream

“My mum put me onto Zinc and Caster Oil cream. It is FABULOUS stuff! It’s very thick and sticks like you know what to a blanket hehe I tried literally everything and this was the only stuff that helped.” – Trudes

Using a barrier cream was another really popular tip from our mums. But did you know that Huggies Newborn Nappies are the only nappy with a zinc enriched layer. The zinc oxide in Huggies Newborn Nappies is the same ingredient found in many nappy rash creams, which helps to protect against irritation with visibly less redness on skin. They’re also endorsed by the Australian College of Midwives and the number one choice in Australian hospitals.

4. Choose Gentle

“Don’t use scented wipes. Flannel and warm water is the best.” – Justine F

Using the most natural product possible for wiping a baby’s delicate skin to prevent irritation is a tip that’s been passed down from generation to generation – and it’s still a great one. But something lots of mums don’t consider that a nappy itself can help protect against skin irritation. Huggies Newborn Nappies are clinically proven* to help protect against skin irritation while Huggies Ultra Dry Nappy Pants keep up with wriggly little ones while providing superior dryness, making them perfect for active toddlers.

Nappy Rash Myths & Facts

🚫 Myth: Nappy rash is only caused by wet nappies.
✅ Fact: It’s true that moisture does play a role in nappy rash, it can also be caused by moisture friction, bacteria, and even what the nappy is made from.

It’s why choosing a nappy that’s specifically designed for skin protection is really important.

🚫 Myth: Cloth nappies are better at preventing nappy rash than disposable nappies.
✅ Fact: When it comes to nappy rash, there’s not really any need to compare cloth and disposable nappies, because it’s all about keeping baby dry. The longer baby can stay dry, the better.

Huggies’ Rapid-Dry™ Technology absorbs wetness instantly, reducing irritation risk.

🚫 Myth: Nappy rash creams are the only way to protect against irritation.
✅ Fact: A good nappy with a zinc enriched layer can also help to protect against irritation.
